“Sorry for the password on yesterday’s article, I will remove the password as soon as I get clearance”

Last week monday a collaboration effort started between Visible Impacts – Project RAISE , the New Nigeria Club, The Future Movmement and Generis Solutions. The objective of this project is to inspire 1,000,000 secondary school leavers to excel in the forthcoming S.S.C.E exams and J.A.M.B and to sustain this number and more for the coming years. The current facts on ground are alarming – Out of the 1,188,142 that took S.S.C.E only 188,136 passed S.S.C.E with Credit in English and Maths and 3 other subjects. Out of the 1,145,961 present for J.A.M.B exam 548,543 candidates scored above 200. This means that over 1 million people certainly have sat at home and would do both exams again in the next 1yr, and guess what they’ll have a good number of fresh takers joining them.

Like all great initiatives, it rises and falls, not on the excellence of the idea but on the commitment of the people and the ability of the system to reward it’s key drivers. I have led a number of informal organizations in my life, and what I have learnt and vowed to do my best not to repeat is that great ideas collapse if the real needs of those that are driving it are not met. I remember feeling remorse after my tenure as the president of my university department, I chronicled my thoughts into my hand over notes – “directing people that you have no power to reward or punish requires truly inspirational leadership, or it will be frustrating”. It is however more frustrating if you as a leader are powerless to meet their urgent needs. This thinking has formed in my mind into a philosophy, a philosophy that if you observe me closely you will realize, I will never engage in any activity that will not create a way for the people that I consider principal to the achievement of the goals, to be duly rewarded!

It is with this philosophy in mind that I am glad to announce to you that we have just set up a system where we can create inspirational role models, teachers and trainers for over 1,000,000 nigerian students in the next 1yr, helping them to succeed.

I do not want to publicly let the cat out of the bag, but I am sure some of the people that have already indicated interest in becoming millionaire teachers and role models and have been trained can understand all that I am saying. We sent a mail to all New Nigeria Club members and all Future Movement Registered members asking for volounteers who are passionate about teaching, have the skills are only not teaching because they believe that the Job is currently poorly rewarded. I am making that call again today -teacher/trainers/role models wanted!!! We have a system in place to ensure a montly allowance well beyond N250,000 and this is being modest. You will be trained for free and auditioned, and only very few great people will be selected. It doesn’t matter where you come from, what your religion is or where you are based. You only need to indicate interest, show up for the training and evaluation and succeed.  The course you’ll be taking would be the Making of Great Teachers, and 17 Secrets of Academic Excellence packaged with the same book title by Fela Durotoye – He needs no introduction.

When we put up the plan, we had it in mind to get small time sponsors, people who are able to take responsibility for 50 Students each (at N2,500 per student). The pack allows us to train the students, give them some working materials and manuals, empower the trainers to follow up with the schools they own, and also covers for part training for the Teachers . We are still compling the list of those sponsors and the benefits they get, short term, medium term and long term in case you are interested. The most insistent sponsors we are getting however are requesting to sponsor from between 20,000 to 100,000 students which means up to 700 schools. This means that we urgently need to develop more teachers or else some of us will be overworked and over paid.

Japan did not become a world power for nothing. Their boast about having their major assets in between their ears is also not unfounded. They were the first country to propose the philosophy of ensuring they keep the best in school to teach the rest. In our society, the best want to be paid as the best, and we have lost geniuses to banks, telecomms companies and business, while our children are taught by majority of people with lack of options being their only interest in education.

In order to keep this write-up short. Here is the requirement.

Do you enjoy teaching and really would have loved to?

Do you have the skills to train others?

Are you passionate about young people?

Do you want to add value?

Do you have integrity and can you be trusted to mould and not destroy the life of a youngster?

If your answers to these questions resonate as yes, then hurry quickly and send your CV to joshua.olaomi@newnigeriaclub.net and copy joshuaolaomi@gmail.com, let the Title of your mail be Millionaire Teacher. If you are interested in sponsorship you can get in touch with me directly, if you are not a New Nigeria Club member already, sponsorship guarantees membership. Please note that New Nigeria Club members,  The Future Movement members and their referrees will take priority in that order.

I wish you ALL the best!

    Oga Sir,
I like this initiative of giving back to the society, I remember my days in the Secondary school, We could boast of the best teachers in various field of learning. Our teachers then took pride in the fact that the training a child and the child became great and notable in the society. You sometimes hear them say, “you see the governor of so and so state, i taught him mathematics” though the pay was low monetarily but the impact was Hugh and of very high quality.

I desire that Nigeria could raise teachers again with same value system. People that look more into future reward of the live they impact rather than the present peanut they earn.
Our attention as a nation should be more on raising future leaders, the replacement force, people that will build this broken bridges.

Educational system in Nigeria now is shambles and nobody is willing to do anything about.

I believe that even now we still have some committed teachers who are willing to help salvage this destroyed heritage of ours. They just need encouragement and motivation.

We need as a nation to put up necessary facilities to see to how this young stars can be trained, develop in the right environment that is conducive for learning.

We all need to start seeing our profession as a platform to serve our society and become role models for the up coming generation.

Chairman, thanks for your efforts, and the call to service. I will get back appropriately on my own plans of involvement.

What a wonderful initiative. The one that promises us a better and a greater future.

Mr Deolu, you really need to hear some graduates speak….you’d even wonder if they ever pass the back of school fence in their lives. I witnessed one as a Corper during my Send forth program in the Ministry. He stood up to share his experience in Bayelsa. “Commons Englishs He cannots spoke”. And guess where the problem is? The foundation — Primary and Secondary Education. I think I now understand the reason why you said that your visit to the office of Minister of Education was fruitful. I know I may not be able to a volunteer but i’ll be part of it in my prayers. And together we shall see students in Nigeria measuring up to their international counterpart.

One more thing, “I beg” Try to to always do the proof-reading before sending which one is “The Future Movmement” and I see them a lot. I hope no hard feelings.

    Ciao bella.

This is awesome sir…students out there fear jamb so much that they fail it even before writing it, some are naturally good but something will go wrong along the line with jamb itself. i wrote UME 5 times, i passed 3 times, i can say authoritatively that I’m Not Dull but none of the results gave me admission into the two universities of my choice…i can go on and on……My answer to the questions is YES, that’s what i have always wanted to impact knowledge and value even to people of my age range…but sir is this open to undergraduates and university fresher like me, i’ll be so glad to be a part of this great idea…God bless you sir

    Hi, Deolu.
Great idea once again. Was really excited at the prospect when I got the mail from NNC. I thought it was career mentoring- which I’ve been doing informally and would cherish the opportunity to work with you on this project. Bur as this refers to secondary/ post-secondary school, I have since switched alliances from my undergraduate courses in Political Science, Sociology,Philosophy and the likes to Brand Management, Public Relations and Mass Communication. I strain to see how this would add value to the young students facing ‘Almighty’ SSCE and UME. Well, apart from Government which I taught during Youth Service, not sure how I can be useful to this project. Some elaboration will not be misplaced, though. Once again mate, heaven will reward you and your cohorts for your bold initiatives to IMPACT SOCIETY by empowering our youth. Hope those behind mahogany desks and house of bills are taking note!

@ Uncle Deolu well done. I can see the fruit of PROJECT RAISE gradually budding. ther is hope for the future. Nigeria shall be saved.
but one question i would love to ask is: what is Project Raise doing as regards this WAEC syndrome. are we being assed based on our technicality, sophistication or communication skills. this is on English Language to be precised.
