In recent weeks, I’ve encountered a cluster of nascent businesses embarking on their inaugural journeys. These ventures have carefully hewn their concepts, with some even road-testing their proof of concept (POC) and unfurling their minimal viable product (MVP). A handful have even achieved preliminary sales. Yet, they stand at the juncture where the chasm between them and their potential unfurls like a narrow bridge, traversable only with a modest infusion of seed funding.
Through the lens of these businesses and their distinct demands, an intriguing revelation materializes. What one perceives as inadequate resources might prove opulent to another. The aspirations of those with modest requisites sometimes dwarf the visions of others requiring grander investments. Yet, overarching this diversity, a universal truth emerges: judgments cannot rest upon the size of the seed or the magnitude of its presence.
Certain enterprises crave initial capital to initiate, others to merely remain buoyant, while some plot their financial exit strategy before the edifice crumbles. Among these diverse scenarios, a single facet gleams unequivocally: one’s trust must not anchor to the bulk of funding, nor exclusively to the viability of the notion itself. The sole harbor for trust rests in the divine. For the morrow remains enshrouded in uncertainty, and only the orchestrator of the future, the architect of what lies ahead, merits the stewardship of our tomorrows.
Granted, we abide in an epoch of successive investor rounds and extended financial runways. Yet, placing your faith exclusively in these constructs shall witness their eventual diminution and their depletion in due course. If an anchorage firmer than the runway eludes you, the tide of vulnerability may strand you.
From my personal vantage point, I’ve gleaned a truth: contentment with the seed one possesses, or the seed that has been diligently accrued, is key. To augment this foundation, seek providence for the root seed—a seed of notion, sprouting a positive perspective that births affirming utterances. Tend your seedbed with the waters of your words, for even a solitary maize kernel can burgeon into a veritable forest when diligently sown, reaped, and sown again.
So, the query persists: how much seed do you truly require?
