We all carry burdens, each belonging to a unique category. Some are ancestral burdens, passed down through generations, seemingly beyond our control. Others are the weight of childhood wounds, shaping us in ways we never chose. And there are those influenced by simple factors like birth order, positioning us on the family tree. Religious beliefs, both true and unfounded, can also script our lives. No matter your burden, it can either shackle your days ahead or set you free.
How do I escape the clutches of my past? How do I transcend the scripts that dictate my limits? How can I release my future from the chains of my history and embrace the abundance denied to people like me?
The journey is intuitive, much like moving from where you stand to where you aspire to be.
Step one: Illuminate your past. Comprehend the what, and the why, and firmly decide that your history will not decree your destiny. Just as we exercise muscles of the body, there are non-physical human faculties awaiting our attention. The muscles of proactivity, like those that move our bones, grow stronger with use. Delve into your past not for excuses, but for the means to excuse yourself from it.
Step two: Craft a vivid image of the future you long for. Understand that desire is the precursor to realization. God endows appetites only for the provisions already prepared. The human longing for food was a harbinger of its availability. The universe’s architect is equitable, gifting cravings in advance only of an already prepared feast.
With past and future clarified, step three unfolds: Act congruently with your aspirations. This pilgrimage may demand companionship, for your journey to unfamiliar terrain. Enlist all available aid, beseech it, insist upon it, seek it—but always gaze toward your destination while keeping your feet grounded. Remember, it’s not your past but your choices that shape your future.
Someone articulated it thus: “The past is behind, the future’s yet unseen, today is a gift, that’s why it’s called the present.” The currency we possess to forge a fresh future is today’s gift. What deeds undertaken today ensure the tomorrow you seek?
