Late last year, I wrote a post titled is it true? I asked a number of questions about the political system in Nigeria, the intrigues where mounting then, and now as well. I just got a number of mails this morning, and a text message too, insinuating that the presidential candidate for the lead party had died.
The thoughts that first flashed through my mind, were that I had a dream 3 nights ago, that Pat Utomi became the president of Nigeria, I wasn’t happy when I woke up, as I thought, ah, just a dream. If this is true, what will be done? Who holds sway? Is Babangida going to be used to replace him? Is what BBC saying true? Have you heard? Is this all true? Wow!
At this point I cannot say for sure what is true and what is not, all the information I have are as seen in this inconclusive BBC article and that it was breaking news on www.businessonline.com-(businessonlinenews). The report said he fainted last night and was rushed out of the country where he died. This BBC article went ahead to paint a scenario story of what will happen if this happens, and paints a picture of 2007 elections being between Babangida, Atiku and Buhari. The businessonline breaking news is currently no longer there. Why I can’t tell.
What happened? It was rumoured last year that he had health issues, he contested it, and challenged his antagonists to a game of squash. What happened here? Was it natural, pressure, or masterminded? Nothing is clear at the moment.
Whatever be the truth, one thing I can say for sure, is that some of us are praying hard for this country, and it’s only 2/3 months that masks what shall be the manifestation of God’s will for Nigeria.
Whoever thinks that things will go on with politics as usual in this country needs to think again. News like this leave me with mixed feelings, but I’m convinced that there is an invisible hand that rules and reigns in the affairs of men. That puts kings in powers and debases them, that says, and is unquestionable!
Let’s continue to pray for our country, and let’s continue to be the change we desire to see. If you know anything, please lets get a head or tail of this.

I just watched this developing story brought to an end, by questioning his wife and family and ascertaining that he is alive and well, and only just went for a check-up in Germany. Thankfully, Yarudua is well, but is anything changing?

You’ve said it all and you don’t need the mixed feelings, this year (2007) is a critical year in the history and foundation of Nigeria and more importantly, there is a God that rules. It appears to me as a season of “I will do what I have to do, even if my people are not ready” But some folks somewhere are moving things…not in the public at all!
I don’t know really…I just feel it! It’s a year that depicts what the trigger of a gun can do!

I heard he was flown abroad for medical check up in a breaking news on AIT, before I started hearing another conflicting report that he has died.
Most Nigerians know that before now that Umar Yar’ adua was a sickler favoured and selected by the cabals in power and was imposed over the other PDP presidential aspirants.
Yar’ adua before the presidential primary has not publicly declare his intention to run for the post of the number one citizen of this country. The president chose him so that he can manipulate him and will indirectly be in power because what we have now is a president who love power so much and has refuse to let go it.
I also see this as a plot to bring IBB back into power. Many may not agree with this but the whole thing simply express the surprises and wonders one can come across in the Nigeria’s unique political landscape.
I just keep wondering when Nigerians will begin without fear stand up for what is right and stood by it. Enough of all these political jamborees, we’ve had that for too long. I’m even doubting with this new political development(and more will come) if the election will still hold, because there too many lapses in the present constitution and electoral law that allows INEC to postpone election indefinitely.
But I pray the election hold because it means another transition for us as a nation. Because the person that will win the election is heaven sent, and by his candidature, its a blessing for us in Nigeria. His victory means a victory for Nigeria, his victory will mark a new beginning in the history of this country, his victory means bye bye to poverty and corruption because he will tackle it head-on.
Guess who this person is?

Bad news travels like wildfire. 2007 is very critical for us. We’re yet to see more drama. We need to pray and vote following our heart. God bless Nigeria
I woke up to the news that Yaa’r Adua is still alive, oh! thank God for that, but I don’t just know why there is this unshakable feeling deep down within me, that the Nigerian political landscape will witness a great earthquake soon, such that it will be difficult to measure on a Richter Scale for magnitude. The epicenter? I don’t know and I don’t know how many casualties, but I know it will happen.
He is very much alive but he has to be very careful and also manage his health properly. He does not deserve to die.
I posted a comment on this blog late last year,December to be more specific, that we’d see wonders from then till April 2007.
The rumour about Yar’adua’s death was just one of the many incredible stories yet to come.
I can’t just comprehend why some people and, maybe media organisations cooked up such a ‘satanic’ rumour that Mr Yar’adua was dead.
I am not a Yar’adua person but I think it would be good for the National security that the source of the rumour be brought to book.
While i was chatting with Karmal yesterday on same issue I was convinced poor Yardua was not dead.Anyway my judgement was not based on what Jonathan Elendu posted on his bog-www.elendureports.com-,but after going through a number of credible media like the BBC.After which i quickly made an impromptu post on my blog.
I think the restoration group might not be a bad idea now that it appears IBB is not interested.
This incident only goes to show the insincerity and secrecy of our present ‘rulers’ – we dont have leaders at present. To date there was no official statement as to the cause of the death of the late first lady. No one should be surprised if the man dies eventually, if election campaign lands him in a German hospital where will he end up if he is to rule the country? I recall that challenge of his to ‘detractors’ to come for game of squash, that he could go 12 games with anyone interested, thank God no one took the challenge. What is sure is that God is interested in the future and affairs of Nigeria. He will allow that which is best for us at this time. I dont wish Yaradua dead but God has just given him an opportunity to live, he should just bow out of the race. He does not have any point to prove to us.
See, when it comes to Nigerian Politics, i get a heart-ache and so purposely leave off knowing things that will distress me.
What i do know is that in Nigeria’s History, Christians have never prayed for Nigeria as they prayed for the Evil Dictator to not continue his reign in 1997/1998. Churches were constantly holding night-vigils and groups like Intercessors For Nigeria had broken into small groups and were praying like it was their last chance. i remember endless nite vigils in my parents home then…endless. I remember the ‘hot’ scriptural verses used then…verses like ‘i will overturn and overturn until he comes whose right it is…’
‘gather together and u shall be broken to pieces…’
Everyone can remember where they were and what they were doing when they heard of his death!
I dont know Rev Okotie so well but it distresses me to think that its we christians who fight his political ambitions so badly. Its we who have this archaic, narrow-minded, single-lane way of thinking that only godless men should participate in politics.godless men ehn?whose fault? Some christians have been taught by their fathers that even intending to be involved in politics is evil. SO we allow a cycle of godless, children-of-the-bond-woman men to rule us who have no connection with the pain of the average man (who remains average anyway cos of his thinking), cos their families are shuttling the States and the Uk as if its benin republic. They are the ones who make multi-national and wannabe multin-national companies insist on and demand a degree from an ‘Awayan’ University preferably the US or the UK !As if!
See, even the new crop of upcoming young leaders have been taught by the fathers’ to steal(the children’s teeth are set on edge becos the children themselves have eaten the fruit!)and we are stuck in a time warp that only God can break!
Pray for the peace of this nation. Pray for God’s will. This is not a Nigeria i want to introduce my children to.Pray!!!
God bless Nigeria
Thank you Mr Akinyemi for your comment on the issue of the Yar’ adua’s rumoured death.
I strongly believe that God Love this country more than we imagine.
And this same God is ready to take the nation out of the woods.
Whatever happens, anytime, anywhere and anyday, it will not stop the hand of God from doing what he has purposed to do in the nation even in the coming election.
If God says Yar’adua is the instrument he wants to use, what can we say.
Let us pray for him for sustainance of his Life. Has is only God that can Give and him only can take away.
thank you.
Let thank God that he is alive, if not the elction will have been re-schedule, which will eventually have enable the present administration to till hold unto power beyond May 29, 2007.
But i strongly believe God has a special purpose for this indcient, and just pray he will learn his lessons and try to bre more concious with his health any.
If at this present stage of yet been the president he has been flown to Germnany for treatment what become of our froiegn reserve????????????????????????
He still doesnt look healthy to me, i hope Goodluck will not answer his name for the second time in a different office if they sail thru…

the greatest tragedy in life is not that we die but what dies in a man while he is still alive. leadership is all about impact making if he (mr. President dies today, the question we should ask is that what lasting prints has he left dor us).
my advice to al our leaders is simple: live as if today were to be your last and you will find reasons to do good! period
@IKOTUN
your question is uncalled for sir. we should just pray for our president. i know even now he isnt in great health but we owe it to this nation to always wish our leaders good.
