Many people are not married because as they say,” they are not ready”. What is being masked under this statement is financial un-readiness. People erroneously believe that wedding should be expensive, and that if they don’t have quite some stash, they better wait! Honestly? The best time to marry is when you are broke!
Here is why:
1. When you start out your life together at your lowest, you see the worst together and can stick together through whatever the future brings.
2. When you are broke, you have no choice in overspending for the wedding. Remember, the wedding is not the marriage, and it’s a one day event that can mess up your marriage if you overspend on it. To keep it simple, do it when you are broke. Family members will not put too much pressure on you.
3. You don’t need too many things in your house for starters. A mattress and a cooker is ideal. Rely on your spouse to be you source of entertainment. HubTV or WifTV. Life is going to be filled with so much clutter, start light and with each other.
Whoever can’t marry you broke is not your wife! Whoever is already set before you meet, will one day treat you like a piece of furniture. The river that gets full in your presence cannot carry you away, better to be in each others stories than to merely waltz in. Don’t marry a man because he has money, money is fleeting. Marry for friendship! Marry someone who you’ll be excited to stay in an empty house with.
