Trying so hard without results?

Have you ever wondered why you seemed to have done everything right, but do not have the results you expected? Have you ever been frustrated? Believe me, there is nothing as frustrating as doing the right things and not getting the desired results to show for it. Have you ever thrown your hands in the air in despair and confusion? Have you ever been truely tired and wondered -“Why?”, “When?”, if you have, I have some good news for you.

Why do you try so hard, doing the right things without results? Gestation period! See, every idea, every venture, every opportunity has it’s gestation period. It is not the day that you concieve that the results are seen. The universe is driven by processes, principles and laws. There is a distance between conception and delivery and it is the gestation period. I jokingly tell who cares to listen, if your ideas come to fruition in 2 weeks, then you have a mice in your hands, if it’s three months, it’s a puppy, 9 months it’s a human child. The biggest results require the longest wait. The trees that take a year or more to bear fruit, bear it all their life. Your ideas, your business, your career has a gestation period.

While in this gestation period, many feel the pains, the kick of the growing baby, the bitter experience of being percieved as different, and abort their dreams. If the gestation period is 9 months, no amount of wishing will give you a natural delivery before the time. If you abort it, you’ll have had some months of pain, and absolutely no hope of reward afterwards. Don’t give up, don’t abort your dreams, don’t quit, in a few more months, you’ll call your friends and observers to celebrate with you.

There are a number of things you can do during the gestation period. Put this into practice and expect good things in your relationships, in your career, in your business and generally in your life.

1. Add method to your madness! Sorry, if that offends you, but I have heard many times that doing the same thing over and over expecting to get a different result is insanity. This is true in many cases, but when you have a dream, you need to be resolute. You need to keep learning, remodifying and remaining consistent until your dream is birthed. Don’t get tired of doing the right things, modify your approach if you see a better method that works, learn from what doesn’t work and keep going…you’ll get your harvest if you don’t quit.

2. Retain the right attitude! I don’t know of anybody who moves forward looking back. One of the things that will keep you motivated to the end is your attitude. I understand that an attitude of gratitude helps you maintain your altitude. You can choose to see the cup as half empty or half full. You can choose to see the world crashing down on and around you or see yourself on course, not at your destination but certainly jouneying there. Be careful what you think about, cause your life might likely move in that direction. Your attitude even in normal pregnancy does affect your baby.

3. Persevere! Perseverance is patience plus consistency. Patience is a rare virtue. Few people know how to hang on. Don’t just wait, wait in your mind while you keep your hands busy. Persevere, have the attitude of waking up every morning and assuring yourself that today is the day you’ve always been prepared for. Imagine all the great people you’ve read about…they are all known to you because they continued till they got it. Can you mention the names of all the people that ever contested with Abraham lincoln to become president? Do you know the names of the 10 spies who came back with a negative report from canaan? History rewards those who persist and persevere.

4. Do all the things pregnant women do ๐Ÿ™‚ Rest well – The law of sabath – rest or be laid to rest. Exercise – delivery requires a lot of push, prepare for it. Eat a balanced diet – you are eating for two, who you are and who you can be. Go for antenatal – Get an opportunity to hear from people who make you know you are not alone in all this. Watch out for the signs – There is a time to get going for delivery, not being prepared for this time can cost you more.

There are other thoughts about this as well, you can add your suggestions and thoughts here, believe me, many that read, appreciate…

Deolu, I’m committed to reading your daily ‘epistles’ before settling down for the day’s work.

More promising results requires longer gestation periods….

Many dreams are aborted by ‘well meaning’ people who want to help you hasten this gestation period.

My advice – Not all open doors lead to the palace some do lead to prisons. Ask Joseph he will tell you to enjoy this gestation period by helping others achieve their dreams.

Good one Deolu. Nice blog you got. Been reading it for a while now.

Trying hard without results? you can say that again. Was at point for a good while until I added some creativity and noveltic approach to things i was involved in. People will mostly stop to check out things with a sense of mystery attach to it.

A word in season Deolu. Because a lot would look back at 2006 as it is racing toward a close and become dejected.

The problem with some of is that we do not want to apply the ‘farmers principle’.

You can not plant a corn and be going there the following day for a full-blown corn cob, apollogy for that word.

There is a time to plant, water, weed, fertilize, watch and then the harvest time. people should not expect overnight succes. It is rare, though it happens once a while.

While waiting, we should not comparing ourselves with others that seem to be making it at a faster rate. We are all operating from different playing ground.

The other guy may have more connection than you do, but while you keeep at what you are doing, you will catch up. It is a matter of time.

Good luck to all Deoluakinyemi community and i wish you Merry Xmas and Happy New year in advance. I hope i am the first person that says that to you all(laugh)

Trying! Someone once said that if u do something and u dont succeed, try n try again n again till u do, dats perseverance!
A lot of us are in a hurry to give birth to our “dreams n aspirations” that we dont take the time to nurture ourselves and our “fetus”, also in our haste we ccould also deliver “premature” babies, which may eventually die out.
Labour! The period just before delivery of the baby is very painful and full of a lot of physical (& mental) exertion before the bringing forth of fruit. Some give up at this stage and may have a “stillbirth”.
Thanks for all your NUGGETS! Deolu, keep it up!

You know what Deolu, I think you are in your own gestation period of birthing what will soon be know as Daily Motivational Study that will litter national and international tabloids ๐Ÿ™‚ , Prophetic!!! you may say but you have hit the nail on the head brother.

I have come to realise that in this our course in life, events around us, natural cycles, creation (mountains, trees, animals, seasons) all help us to understand how to walk through life.

God has made everything in such a way that if we can take time out to recap, refire, retreat, or go into hibbernation like eagles….we get refreshed, refocused, and recharged to birth our purpose to being.

SEE YOU AT THE VERY TOP

Its easy to read that Edison failed 10,000 times before he invented the electric bulb, Lincoln failed many times before he became the US president, Henry Ford failed at 2 businesses before he became the richest man of his time, Col. Sanders (of KFC fame) became rich at the age of 67(roughly), Ali regained the world championship belt after losing some times to more determined fighters(?!)…….

We see the glory; we celebrate their acheivements; we even envy their successes. But what we dont see are the tears, fears, trials, moments of self-doubt, frustrations, loneliness, setbacks………

Cause and effect cant be seperated. it may only take a while but ……………

It’s a pity many people dont understand what it takes to be pregnant with a human child because they’ve been carrying mice or puppies.
There are times when you are tempted to think if what you are carrying really has life in it, and other times you wonder if you will ever have the power to bring to birth, one thing that’s very important and that has been said “Perseverance is patience plus consistency”; alot of of perseverance is needed.

Word all…word! I think you can feel the pulse of what you are carrying oh, it’s better to purge it if it’s dead than to carry it for full time and deliver a still born. If the baby is alive, it should kick from time to time. Your dream, idea or opportunity needs to have pulse, it needs to be responsive.

i learnt some news things from this post. if you arrive too soon, you will arrive too small like the mice.every great achievement isnt rushed. it is a calculated step by step process and with time, becomes a big hit. as long as we have put in our best, the desired result will surely come.
