Is it True?

Hmmm… I heard some things oh, and I felt maybe I should just confirm oh. Some of them haven’t happened yet oh, but I heard that they are postulations sha. Please help me look at them oh, and let me know if it is true oh. (the ohs are deliberate oh)

I am not so much for political calculations, but from what i’m hearing it seems we’ll be in for real surprises in the elections next year. I’m a very optimistic fellow, and believe too much in the future of our great country. In case you don’t, you can check out the list of websites underneath this article and get excited at the generation that is lurking in virtual obscurity, waiting for the batton to be passed. If you read deep into their words and thoughts, you’ll see hope written in capital letters for Nigeria.

Yes, more to what I have been hearing. Gbeborun… you should continue from here oh..

Is it true that General Ibrahim Gbadamosi Babangida who stepped aside in 1993, had decided to step down from the PDP ticket this year in preparation for stepping off Nigeria’s future? For the first time in a long time, I actually think he is actually stepping in the right direction. Who knows, he might win the Nigerian hot stepper award.

Is it true that the likely winners of the PDP ticket dangles between Jerry Gana and Donald Duke? Is it also true that a big church in Nigeria is actually behind one of these participants and have ensured that all their officials are card carrying members of the PDP? Is it true that the looser of these two could be VP to the other?

Is it true that our dear president is actually no longer behind Peter Odili but now in favour of Donald Duke as the South South possibility?

Is it true that Pat Utomi is the most likely person to win the ticket for AC? Is it true that Atiku Abubakar is also a possible AC presidential ticket winner? Is it true that Pat Utomi is being approached to deputy for Atiku or vice versa?

Is it true that the elections next year might be interesting to witness a final combat for presidency happening between Pat Utomi vs. Donald Duke, or Atiku vs. Jerry Gana, or Jerry and Duke vs. Atiku and Pat? Wouldn’t that be interesting?

Is it true that even though next year elections would be interesting in terms of the candidates making it to the finals, many of the loud mouthed intellectual supporters of these two teams will be unable to vote, haven been unable to register? Is it true that the caliber of people who will be able to vote are the people that can be swayed by N100? Is it true that the people stepping aside today are going determine who wins next year?

Is it true that all the military men that have ever neared the corridors of power in this country have their children in the military purportedly rehearsing for power? Is it true that the military truely believes that they as guards of the palace own a right to the throne?

Is it true that even if next years elections were free and fair, the people that will be able to vote will not be representative of our true desires as a nation? Is it true that you, and at least 10 others not too far from you have not registered?

Is it true that when an educated man vacates his right to choose his own leader the punishment that life offers him is to have stupid people rule over him?

Is it true that ANPP and AC are merging to form a more formidable party that can stand the machinery of PDP? Is it true that PDP will be a difficult party to be president from and really be president indeed, considering the powers that be?

Is it true that the military will be difficult to manage for any civilian president that has never been in the force? Is it true that in order to be commander in chief of the armed forces, you need to be an ex-man? Is it true that Obasanjo was the person that handed over the the first and last complete civilian president ever?

Is it true that somewhere in the list of websites that I have typed here, and some that will comment and add themselves lies the hope and possibility for the future of Nigeria?

I haven’t said anything oh…I have only asked questions, please somebody, help me! Is it true?

Roll Call (forgive the order, and if I forgot you, just add yourself): Gbenga, Emmanuel, Deji, Ayo, Seun, Tope, Gbeborun, Fiyin, Olumide, Angela, Olaito, Kamal, Ola, Kunle, Yemisi, Biola, Yemi, Dipo, Gbubemi, Funmi, Mutiu, Azuka, Lewis, Chxta, bisols, Temi, Tim, Boso, Kayode, Debo

    Nice one Deolu.

……..but is it also true that a teacher doesn’t ask his students questions that he doesn’t have answers to?

    If that is true then tell us the answers to the questions you have asked;

Because the only question this student can answer is question 12, and that it is true that somewhere in the list of websites that you have typed here, and some of us that are commentators lies the hope and possibility for the future of our country Nigeria?

I have been following the PDP’s selection process for some time now. I actually salute IBB for his sense of judgement. He has read between the lines that there is no way he would be able to win the PDP ticket and that was definitely the best thing for him to do. If he tries to run on another party, he is going to loose. So, it is better for him to just take a SIDDON DEY LOOK approach.

I have never seen Gana as a serious contender. I forsee a situation where Yara’dua picks the ticket and Donald Duke runs as his running mate.

Yeah, ANNP and AC have concluded plan to present a strong candidate against the ruling PDP. Atiku might be picking their ticket soon and that explains why ANPP national congress has been shifted till a later date.

A friend was asking me yesterday why I am not running for elective office next year. My simple answer was that I am in my preparation stage. David didnt just wake up one day to become the King of Israel. He had been king of sheep :)) in the bush for quite some time before he could measure up to the task. So, this is a call for us all to keep working on ourselves. The future of Nigeria lies with what we do with our time today. Let’s rise up and get set. The stage is set for us…

Hmmm Stephen…I as a teacher also know, that it is best you give your student an opportunity to try, even miss the answer first, before offering answers, this way, whatever answer you finally give, will never be forgotten 🙂

Yesssooo stephen…we need your web address there oh… go to http://www.blogger.com or http://www.wordpress.com, and get it done! All the best!

If IBB has indeed dropped out, that will be the best thing that has ever happened to Nigeria, EVER. The man is evil personified. The fact that somewhere in his thick skull, he thnks (thought?) that he could ever become president of Nigeria through a democratic process is just ludicrous !! I’ve been reading Donald Duke’s blog for a few weeks, the man has some good ideas, and will be an interesting prospect. Most importantly, it’s time the older generation stepped aside from ruling Nigeria. I’m supporting Duke sha, he’s the only candidate with a blog ! (I might be wrong on that, but his blog is the only one I know!)

If I look at Nigeria political scenario, I laugh because some of the things play out is not what Nigeria supposes to be doing now. 2007 Elections is just here but I have not register for my voter’s card, which will determine my choice for the presidency next year.

Besides hearing that IBB contesting was a joke to me because he never gives the reason why he annulled June 12 elections, which was judged as the most free and peaceful elections in Nigeria nation.

Whether the president is from North, South, West, South-South or wherever is not the main talk but what did the man at the center have to offer us?

    Hmmm!

Is it true? These are very interesting questions oh!

Well, I guess time will tell.I am sure time doesn’t lie.

For now, I am enjoying the political drama.

IBB stepped down! or did he chicken out? I knew a long time ago the man would leave for another party. Or is he gradually stepping out of the big race? I guess time will tell.

Is also true that Femi Pedro of Lagos has dumped his boss and counterparts in the AC for the Labour Party as its sole candidate?

Is it true that some ‘agrived’ individuals in the Lagos AC are working for the failure of the party?

Is it also true that the PDP might add Lagos to the list of states it controls?

    Time will tell.

I’m really behind on naija politics o,(and please don’t let my late pop hear this or he will deal with me, lol) At this point, I’m wondering who to trust? Donald Duke seems like a performer, so also Pat Utomi but I pray the “powers that be” let our country succeed. Can I speak for us all on the roll call when I say we are gearing up for the future? (and the future is here already o)

well, we may not know how much of this calculations are true but i know that Nigeria still has a bright future. as for IBB,he may be doing one of his maradona runs. As for OBJ, he`s been know to be someone who keeps his cards to his chest, so to know who he`s really supporting may not be clear until after saturday`s primaries. As for AC/ANPP merger, i think they should consider it well, taking cues from AD/ANPP merger of 1999 and the deceit of AD by PDP in 2003 in the SW region governorship elections. If they`re really up to it they don`t need a collabo. As for Duke, i think he`s a good guy , i hear Calabar is such a clean city now, also ,his business sense as seen in the tinapa project is worthy of note,he might be able to bring good businesses to Nigeria. Yes, there`s a guy in PDP, Katsina state Gov, Yaradua, he also seems to be a good option from across the Niger. i hear he`s built over 500km of roads in his stste and that from owing foreign debts, thjey now have foreign reserves of about N6.5b. Good enough,he doesn`t make noise, but then saturday will tell.
I believe Nigeria will do well.

Politics and politicians give me the creeps. I’d rather slowly roast them all on a spit.

That said, from what I’ve heard, the best tussle would be that between Utomi and Duke. Knowing Nigeria, I wouldn’t be too surprised if a relative unknown suddenly appears at the last moment and ‘wins’ the vote.

    I guess I’m cynical, but that’s just me…

Hmmm, is it true, nice piece

Well, i think this whole presidency thing gravitates toward YAR’ADUA and Donald Duke might be his vice.My finding about the two seems good. But i ve got more confidence in PAT Utomi.

Duke is good but VP will be good enough for now.Nigeria’S political coast will become clearer as the days roll by, then someone like Duke can spearhead.

Pedro:is it true that Afikuyomi brought PEDRO(a technocrat)so it can be very easy for him to win the party’s ticket?

Is it true that PEDRO having learnt the politics stepped up in becoming the governor and that the disagreement between the two precipitated Tinubu’s choice of Fashola?

Is it true that TINUBU has picked a form to become a senator (thinking of being the senate president)

Is it true that HILDA WILLIAMS won the PDP ticket for lagos and a run off election to impose Obanikoro?Hope the wont be a BITTER(KORO)choice anyway.

Anyway THE PLANS OF THE HEART BELONG TO MAN, BUT THE ANSWER OF THE LIPS BELONG TO GOD.

In my opinion, the man should find something else to do because he doesn’t appear to be politically inclined… I doubt he even understands politics. Maybe the circumstances under which he became Deputy Governor have beclouded his judgement (and don’t ask me about the circumstances o, na unsubstantiated gist and I don’t want to be quoted o)

Hey Deolu, why you put your guy for the spot now? I’ve been unavailable for a bit. Anyways I’m back.

Hmmm! No need to sing IBB’s praises, the guy did nothing exceptional, he only came to terms with the long running fact that the house that OBJ built is not ready to accomodate him. leave all that his talk about stepping aside for Yar’ Adua and Gusau. Na ordinary beer parlour talk to save his face. There are still reports from some sources that he his shopping for a new platform. So, Debo got it right, this time around, maradona no step aside he chickened out. Step aside ko, step offside ni!

Well, i am a Dukist but at the moment all news and inside infos point to Yar’Adua as the candidate to be selected on saturday (not too bad, he is young and has been involved in some developmental projects in Kastina, also he is the only other Gov. apart from Donal Duke not being investigated by the EFCC).

As at last week, it looked like Donald Duke will be touted as Yar’ adua VP, but at the moment it seems the party is favouring Odilli again as the VP sonce they percieve he can deliver the south south and south east easily.

Hey Deolu, Atiku – Utomi ke? We no want. We want Utomi. Atiku doest look the part, I personally doubt he knows the scores where nation building is concerned.

Yes Pedro decamped to Labour party (not Tony Blairs own o!). Isn’t Tinubu such an autocrat? If fashola has it, let him contest fairly at the primaries. And yes, Hilda won and has been declared the PDP flag bearer in Lagos.

Yes AC and ANPP merged already. Yetsreday.

I think I will do a proper post on all this now.

Is it true that it was EFCC that scared Babangida out of the race?

Is this also true? “Babangida, according to THISDAY checks, had sought from the President a waiver from today’s screening of PDP presidential aspirants by the Presidential Screening Comm-ittee headed by Chief Bayo Akinola, a request that was turned down.

Instead of a presidential waiver, according to impecable sources, Obasanjo at a meeting between the duo last Thursday presented Babangida with three options that were like Hobson’s choice.

The three options Obasanjo gave Babangida were: one, to join the queue of other presidential aspirants and be screened; two, to remain in the party as a chieftain and forget any presidential ambition he may habour; and three, to take an alternative platform. “

IS IT TRUE??? Ha interesting! I know for a fact that when u start hearing some things (rumours) in Nigeria there tends to be an element of truth in them. IBB stepping down? I hope its for real and not for some more power broking in the background.

A Jerry and Duke vs. Atiku and Pat election would be very interesting and portends great things yet to come, where does YarAdua fit in here? Bcus word around town is that he is THE MAN!

“Is it true that when an educated man vacates his right to choose his own leader the punishment that life offers him is to have stupid people rule over him?” I’ll say a BIG YES to that! A society deserves the leader they get(by voting or deciding not to vote!)

A lot of us still have not registered, how are we going to then vote, though i read that the old register would/might be used.

    Hmmn,

Nice political piece on the state of unfolding events in our dear country Nigeria…..

IBB withdrew from the race because OBJ does not want him to be the next politically elected president and my info resources have it that, The PDP Presidential Ticket is going to be between Umaru Yar’Dua and Donald Duke……Odili is not been favoured by the leader of the party OBJ 😉 because he wants to present credible candidates to the nation as PDP flagbearers

On Lagos PDP tussle between Hilda and Obanikoro, Baba again is skewed towards Hilda because as at the last count, there no clue to the killers of Funsho Williams. Thus, he does not want any other aspirant other than Hilda to win the ticket. This according to my info sources is to prevent any of the others from benefiting from winning Lagos State. If PDP wins, then the ‘good’ of the land still remains in Williams domain

Still on the Centre of Excellence, the internal rancour going on in AC may cause a repaet of what happened between Sarumi and Late Prof Femi Agbalajobi back in 1991, where internal rangling in SDP paved way for Sir Michael Otedola to win Lagos on a platter of diamond :-)….Hilda may be the Otedola of 2007 as the case may be….time will surely tell

Is it true that those whose websites appear above or who have added comments to this post will form the future Nigeria we all desire…..I agree 110% with Emmanuel on this 😉

Its a matter of time…..the stage is already set….some of us are already some steps before the frontline……just a couple of years more ….we would appear to the whole world….ready and prepared to effect the reformation……..AS THE LORD PLEASES

    More drama to unfold….watchout!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it true that Yaradua is the choice of all the other Governors? That he has bagged 22 sure states already?

Is it true that the North must produce the next leader and the south south must be vice?

Is it true that Obasanjo is under serious pressure to dump Yaradua as his planned successor, that there is a high power play going on to placate the governors and house of rep members who didn’t win reelection for 2007?

Is it also true that there is a move by the house of reps to impeach president Obasanjo?

Is it true that Duke refused to be vice to Yaradua?
Is it true that Odili fainted when he heard that Goodluck was announced?

It’s been an interesting watch from our humble positions as patriots of this our great fatherland. I wish the answers to all the “Is it trues” could be unfolded right before our eyes now and here but that will spoil the fun of the unfolding drama. We just need to sit back and enjoy the script being unfolded before our eyes. If Yar’Adua is a sick Nigerian and his ‘sick’ VP takes over in case of any eventuality, what becomes of the ‘reforms’ we have enjoyed so far in the Obasanjo administration? And is it true that Baba knows this plot and he’s still in support of it? What does that tell us? Of a man who has built an ’empire’ and is ready to watch it fall before his eyes? Is it true that Pat Utomi is in the race? If yes, what’s happening to his campaign team? How many of our youths know that there could be hope with the man? Why won’t Odili faint? I personally believe something’s wrong in more than one place! And Goodluck Jonathan! Well, the luck in his name may actually be good but does luck last so long?

Now, the truth is unveiling itself. I think that Atiku is the candidate to beat in the next election. Atiku has been elected as the presidential candidate of AC. The party will do well for itself if Duke could be persuaded to run as the Veepee. Going by the AC-ANPP alliance, Atiku’s chances would be brighter if Buhari (from KAstina State as Yar’adua) would support Atiku to neutarlise the IBB-Obasanjo factor in the anointing of Yar’adua. I really wish for an Atiku-Duke ticket. I do not think Atiku is more corrupt than Obasanjo–both were public servants, yet Obasanjo assets far outweigh anything you can trace to Atiku. Atiku once said Obasanjo is far richer than him, and I believe that.

I also forsee the PDP governors who lost out of the Obasanjo game coming together to support Atiku…..

I think things are working well for Atiku despite opposition, and I will vote for him if the contest is between him, Buhari and YAra’dua; no matter who Atiku picks as his Vice.

Some have dedicated and pledged their support to my campaign, others have asked for more information about my candidacy, my manifesto and more importantly, what plans I have for our beloved state and, by extension, our motherland Nigeria. Some have requested campaign material, so that they may continue to spread the word about the Labour Party and Femi Pedro. I thank you all for your continued support, and hope you remain steadfast in your belief in my candidacy.

As you are all aware, we have reached a crucial juncture in the election process. All things being equal, we have barely over Ninety (90) days to the election. There is still a lot of work to be done. It is imperative that you register to vote if you have not already done so. If you have, I urge you to mobilise as many people as you can to register. No matter how small you may think your efforts may be, it will make an enormous impact come election day.

I wish to use this opportunity to urge you all to continue spreading the word and raising awareness of my candidacy and the Labour Party: in your beer parlours, on all the Nigerian websites, at your workplace, at the cyber-cafe, at the mosque on Fridays, at your church service on Sunday, even when you are stuck in traffic! The Labour Party is about people, the people who produce the nation’s wealth: The working class. It is about our farmers-producers of our nation’s food basket, ploughing the farms throughout our nation. It is about our market women- daily striving to earn a living. It is about the various workers commuting the length and breadth of our country to create a vibrant economy. It is about workers in the public service, and organised private sector. It is about the small and medium-scale business owner, striving to build their businesses. It is about workers on our drilling rigs, our financial, telecommunication, aviation and construction industries. It is about the old age pensioner, the retirees who have worked tirelessly to develop our nation. The Labour Party is about the generality of Nigerians- it is about the people.

Because it is a people-oriented Party, my manifesto and policies are directly for the people. I will be held accountable to the people. I emphasise on the word ACCOUNTABILITY, because this is a fundamental principle that has ceased to exist in Nigerian governance.

In the coming days, I will be campaigning in your local government areas- from Agege to Surulere, Ifako to Badagry, Amuwo-Odofin to Oshodi, Mushin to Shomolu, Kosofe to Eti-Osa, Apapa to Oshodi. Be expecting me. If you see me or my campaign members on the streets, embrace them. Let them know you are a Destiny 2007 Team member, because we all cherish your support, no matter who you are or where you are from.

Once again, I thank you all for being apart of the Destiny 2007 Campaign. Feel free to send me an email anytime you desire. More importantly, forward this message to as many friends and family members you can- be it by oral communication or by forwarding this email. Remember our campaign slogan: Together, We Will Make it Happen. I urge you to seize this moment, and secure our future. VOTE FEMI PEDRO.

    Sincerely,
    Olufemi Pedro
    Destiny 2007 Campaign Team.

It’s a day short of the gubernatorial elections and i can for sure predict that Ac will sweep Lagos. on the National fount, PDP will remain in Aso Rock. Why all the specualtion? It has to do with what i call the power of incumbency!

sir, it is 2009 and a sick guy by the name yar’snail is president .he didnt lobby like others to be there but was just “put” there as a bone on our throat. no vision, agenda or plan for the nation. but i wont give up on this name. i still believ that it will still be the most desirable nation to live in by 2025 and i am doing my own part to seeing that we achieve this vision.

one reason why I love Nigeria so much is that rumors become truth automatically. one would expect that lot of issues were raised towards the end of 2006 but as the year 2007 came, those issues came to reality.
I strongly believe that there’s is this thing that can work in this country and that is saying positive things about ourselves and then watch them happen.
