Last week I talked about how to get rich quickly online. Today’s post is a sequel to last week post so if you have not read it, I advise you to hurry up and do so now
So you have your own laptop and internet connection and want to make money online. You probably have read a story online of how people are killing it on the internet with loads of cash or of young teens that are making money online and you want to do it too. I can assure you that it’s very simple as long as you follow the entire process.
I have had some small measures of success on the internet and I am going to share my experience with you. If you are looking to build an online business then below is how you should do it exactly:
NOTE: Don’t leave any bit out, or else you won’t get the desired result
Discover a Niche market:
Most times, I see people creating product first before determining who they want to sell it to. I have occasionally met individuals who believe that they have this great product that someone is going to buy online, and I ask have you done your market research. And they go confused on me.
Doing market research online is quite simple. All you need to do is to keep your eyes on Nairaland, Google Trends & any other keyword tool of choice. Take for instance; Forex is a highly searched term on Google Trends presently while Travels, Autos as well as the Business category are most searched on Nairaland. You can also use the Google Keyword tool to know what individuals are searching for online.
Decide on what to offer your Niche market:
There are various options as to what you can offer to your niche market. You could offer them any of the below:
Digital Products: This could be in form of E-books, Audios & Videos. These are by far the easiest to do as it does not require you to stock any inventory. Best of all, you could sell thousands of copies without cost of production.
You could decide to create your own information product to sell if you have a product idea or become an affiliate and sell other peoples products. Both Clickbank & Paydotcom allows you to sell other peoples product and earn between 50%-70% of the amount of the product you sell.
NOTE: if you are living in Nigeria, then Clickbank won’t really accept you. I suggest you use paydotcom instead
Free Content Blog: You could put up a blog in the area of your niche and serve contextual advertising (Adsense, Bidvertiser, Performancing Ads, Infolinks etc) as a source of revenue. When I mean a content blog, I am talking of something like this. If you look at that particular blog, it’s a weight loss blog with lots of articles. The blogger has taken his time to write articles that benefit the reader and then go on to serve contextual ads on it.
Membership Sites: This involves individuals paying to access information you put on a website that is password protected. The offering could be in form of exclusive articles, software’s, Games or even videos. People are willing to pay for online content as long as it can help them solve their problems. You could get membership site creator software to start yours now.
Get Traffic:
Once you get your product perfected, its time to drive traffic to it. Most times, people think driving traffic is difficult….In actual sense, it is not. Driving traffic takes time and requires building an online reputation first. While its true that you could get traffic overnight using PPC, you need to understand that there are lots of professional affiliates operating this method which has driven PPC clicks up to as much as $1 per click. Of course, you can still use long tail keywords to achieve lower cost per click, irrespective, for the newbie, this is not advisable. So how do you get easy cheap & free traffic?
Use Offline Advertising: if your product is targeting Nigerians, simply use various newspapers that relates with your offer. Lets say I am promoting a Work Out DVD, then I’ll be advertising in TrueLove magazine or CityPeople. And yes…people buy workout products in Nigeria.
Use Facebook: Presently, it’s cheap to use Facebook to advertise. With Facebook, you can select demographic based on age, sex as well as interest of your customer. Best of all, you can use your Nigerian Credit cards to make payment to get traffic from Facebook.
Media Buys: You can also call this banner advertising. This method is not really being exploited by many in Nigeria presently, so you might want to tap into it. Simply put, you approach websites with high traffic and request from them to place your banner on their website. A good example is the placement of Jobberman’s banner on CP-Africa
By following the above three steps >> Find a Niche Market >> Create A Product/Service/Site >>> Get traffic, you can build an online business right from your room. So get your thinking hats on….decide what your niche market would be….and draw out a plan.
Next Week, I’ll be showing you exactly how to start selling digital products like E-books, audios, videos & software’s…Watch out for it.
