You are the only Bible some people will ever read! Your life must represent God, men must see your good deeds and give glory to your father in heaven.
Let your life be the witness! You don’t need to preach the gospel, let your life preach the gospel! I remember once having a room mate, who decided to follow me to Church purely by my conduct. I didn’t preach any sermon, didn’t share any verses, but the person ultimately got saved.
Our lives must preach the Gospel!
Does that sound right? Scratch that!
I thank God that John the Baptist didn’t listen to that message! Otherwise, rather than introduce Christ to the world, he would have simply respected him, whispered in Jesus’ ears, “I don’t want to be controversial and talk about you, but my behavior will show that I respect and worship you. Cool with that?”
Jesus is not cool with that! The gospel of witnessing with your character only is half gospel. Our lives must preach the gospel, but our tongues must declare Him! Thank God Jesus our role model didn’t do it with just his behavior, but preached, taught and regularly made the world to realize the message. Thank God the disciples did not rely on good behavior alone. Paul declared in Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile”.
Are you ashamed of the Gospel? Is it awkward to preach the gospel? Do you feel it’s a responsibility that pastors only should handle? A disciple is one who disciples others. It’s a chain that must not stop! The full gospel is that your life and words should align. If we deny him he will deny us before his Father.
Here is how Jesus did it – “When Jesus concluded his address, the crowd burst into applause. They had never heard teaching like this. It was apparent that he was living everything he was saying—quite a contrast to their religion teachers! This was the best teaching they had ever heard” Matt 7:28-29 (msg)
