This video moved me deeply. I won’t lie, it brought tears to my eyes

I’ve seen many opinions about it already. Some people say, “Good should not be recorded.” Others argue that “Anyone who truly wants to help won’t bring out a camera.”

I understand those concerns. I really do.

But here’s my honest take.

If a video like this generates enough value to sustain the help being given, then it becomes more than charity. It becomes a sustainable good, almost like an NGO model. And that is not a bad thing.

That said, I also believe there is a better way.

The camera itself is not the problem.
Anonymity is the higher virtue.

A group of people can come together, appoint a spokesperson, and do good openly while protecting the dignity and privacy of the giver and the receiver. The impact remains. The inspiration spreads. The ego stays out of the way.

I loved this video. Not because it was filmed, but because it stirred something in me. It made me want to do the same. It reminded me that kindness is still alive.

And the truth is, it is happening quietly all around us.

In the past few weeks alone, I’ve seen it in my own community. Someone was gifted solar panels and batteries worth over a million naira. I myself received an unexpected gift that has made my daily movement easier. None of these were on camera.

People are doing good every day, unseen.

But the ones who are seen inspire the rest of us.

So yes, I think the camera can be good.
I just think anonymity is better.

If we can learn to inspire without humiliating, to show kindness without centering ourselves, to use visibility without losing humility, that would be beautiful.

And if a simple video can remind us to be more human, more generous, and more attentive to suffering, then maybe it has already done some good.
