Please don’t mind if the title sounds very academic. I have been a student of laws for some time now, and have made my own discoveries, one of the first things I have learnt is that laws are not invented, they are discovered. Not many years ago, legend has it that a man by the name Isaac Newton sat under an apple tree after days of reading, thinking and searching. As he sat under the apple tree, something happened to him, an apple dropped on his head :). Suddenly he connected it, and that was the birth of the law of gravity, that law states that “every particle in the universe attracts every other particle with a force that is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.” Now if you never studied science, that might take an effort to understand. In lay man’s terms everything that goes up comes down until it’s as far as the moon 🙂 There are many physical laws, and all these have in their own ways changed human behaviour and essentially the world. Hopefully someday soon, I’ll write about the laws of motions and how they affect us physically and interpolate to affect us more than physically.
Laws sound like constraints, but in actual fact, a law is a phenomenum that if allowed to influence our thougths gives us new perimeters of freedom. Laws eliminate luck, apples don’t fall to the ground because they are lucky, they fall to the ground because they are plucked. Objects don’t move forward or stop moving because they are lucky, they move because there is an external force making them to behave in the way they have behaved. There are physical laws, there are spiritual laws. The universe is not in a chaotic mess, the universe is ordered, and order is a function of laws.
Once upon a time a man who had an atheist as his colleague at work, decided to take time out to develop a model of the milkyway (the universe). Using magnets, gases and metals of different types he was able to develop a small model of the Sun, nine planets and some moons. These model was very good and the sun was suspended in the centre of the universe, and the small planets orbited around it. The project took him over 2years to develop as he had to learn so many things in the process. When he was done, he decided to place the transparent box of his project beside his desk in the office. His atheist friend came to work one day, saw the project and was shocked, it was simply beautiful! Wow, he said, “How on earth did you do that?”. His colleagues smiled and said, “what, you mean that? I didn’t do anything, I just heard a big bang and it appeared?” The atheist friend was infuriated but smiled as the point sank in, nothing so ordered can come out from a mere bang. There has to be an extremely intelligent and knowledgeable mind behind the creation of the world. This mind, put laws in place, that make it easy for whoever will apply them to achieve their desires. Its no luck!
The fundamental paradigm to take about laws is that laws are no respecters of persons. The president of any country will not disobey the law of gravity at will. Laws don’t look at your titles, if you disregard them it’s at your own peril. Whoever you are, walking off the edge of a 20 storey building will leave you with only one inevitable experience, concrete! Another strong reality is that by observing people who have succeeded in one endeavor or the other you can observe the laws that were at work. If you understand these laws and practice them, you can achieve the same results whoever you are! Can you imagine that? I had some laws in mind when I started writing this. I’ll post them in the next article.
