This is indeed a very long weekend, it’s easter weekend and that means we have Friday and Monday as holidays, or what my English friends will call bank holidays. It’s been impressive to see though, that many people across the world have been very active online even during this break. It’s been a good and necessary break for me, I’ve had a little time to rest, I’ve also had the opportunity of speaking at an event over this long weekend. The title of my presentation was Taking Charge in Interviews and it was very fulfilling.
Back to the season we are in – Easter! Thinking about easter brings back to my memory a lot of good things. I think about the fact that the tomb of Jesus is reputed to be one of the biggest tourist sites in Jerusalem. Thinking about that I ask the question, “What are they looking for?” Can you imagine thousands of people queuing up to see an empty grave? Someone said this is the only tourist site where people travel from far and wide and queue up from day till night to see nothing! Isn’t that profound? That’s the joy of the season, he that died did not stay dead, but rose.
I believe that this season is a reminder to all of us, that beyond our struggles exist triumph, beyond our battles there is victory. There is no glory without story, no crown without a cross, no conqueror without a conquest, not winner without a challenge. The sun arises long after the moon has set. The hour before dawn is darkest. Many of us are not satisfied with our current predicaments. Many of us are tired of where we are, dissatisfied with what we do and unhappy about the present. Don’t loose hope, he who must arrive in the palace must pass through the servants quarters.
The worst, darkest and most horrible Friday in the world is now globally recognized as good Friday. That dark situation in your life, that painful occurrence, that sad story, that miserable experience is soon going to be labeled differently. Your dark Friday is soon to become a good Friday. Rather than say you suffered you will say you learnt. Rather than lament, you will rejoice, rather than date it as a day of calamity you will recognize it as a day instrumental to the greater days ahead.
Jesus made a profound statement when he said if you destroy this temple, in three days I will raise it up again. In three days, our entire life plays out. You have three days that are important in the formation of your destiny. Just three days! None of us have more than the other. If you miss the use of these three days then you will perish with history. The three days are, yesterday, today and tomorrow! Today is the influence you have over tomorrow, yesterday is the experience you leverage on today, to create your desired tomorrow. Tomorrow is a new day, tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life. As long as you don’t die today, you are qualified for tomorrow.
Cheer up my friend, whatever you are going through will pass. Whatever you are looking forward to will happen. Your desires and aspirations will be met. You will totally forget yesterday’s pains, you will not remember todays travails. The joy of tomorrow will be so great you will forget the painful pasts. It will come to pass. Your life will become a tourist attraction, people will look at you for a reason why you should not be happy and find none. Tell somebody today… It will come to pass!
