One day, one day!

Have you ever wondered about the disparity of your value and your present circumstances? Have you ever wondered that you wake up so early, close so late and are not in control of much of it? Have you ever thought that you are a lot bigger than the confinement you find yourself in, or that you are more capable than what you are doing? Have you ever asked if this is all there is about you? Are you struggling with any limitation? Bothered by any occurrence? Are you looking forward to something, or waiting for something to end? Are you mixed up in a wrong crowd, relationship or office? One day, one day, the ground that holds the seed, will give way to it’s growth. One day, one day!

Are you familiar with that statement? One day, one day! It’s as if people are waiting for a particular day for the shackles on their feet to give way. People are waiting for the offer of freedom, tired and frustrated, people relinquish all hope into the hands of one day! But does one day come without warning? Or is patience the art of quietly sitting and waiting for what we expect without doubt? If you are hoping for one day, then this article is for you.

There are two possibilities to the arrival of one day. Both are sure, you only need to understand your peculiar scenario and align yourself with it. There is the concept of time as “chronos” and of time as “cairus”.

1. There is a one day that will come, whether or not you do anything out of the ordinary about it. This one day is a function of chronos, it is a function of the passing of time. The world functions as a system, and is predictable. There are seasons, and as surely as the earth functions, there will be summer and there will be winter. The seasons of the world cannot be altered to suit your desire, you will have to align yourself with it. There is no point praying for rain in a season that it does not rain, such activity is futile, you also cannot work the rain into existence or complain it into being. The earth revolves around the sun, and the moon around the earth, these set the pace of the seasons and they will not bend to favour you, you will understand, endure and make them favour you. When you are in winter, there is nothing that you will do to bring summer speedily. All you need to do is understand the seasons, expect the characteristics of the seasons and wait for one day! Each of the four popular seasons have about 90 days each, no amount of wishing on the 10th day will change the seasons. All you need to do is understand and wait.

Bringing that a little closer home means that the events happening in your life now might just be for this season. There is a time for everything, you need to ask yourself, will what is bothering me today bother me in time? If you are worried about not having a car today, will you not have in some years time? Will anybody remember how long it took you to buy your first? Wisdom is understanding that the seasons of life are inevitable, hence planning for them before they come.

2. There is a one day that will come, only with the completion of certain activities. This one day is not a function of the passing of time, it’s a function of the completion of set activities that qualify you for the next level. It’s a one day that is a function of cairus, completion of events. The passing of time might make a boy a man, but it takes the completion of certain events to make an ignorant boy an educated man. You cannot claim to be standing on promises while sitting in the premises. Opportunities do not fall on laps by the passage of time, laps that see opportunities are moved to where opportunities have ripened. The passage of time will not get you a wife, a good job, a business venture or investments, you will need to grow your desires and move in their direction.

Are the events happening in your life now controllable? Are they things that will happen with the passing of time, or do they require conscious effort? A guy once asked a friend of his to help him post his letter of resignation if he remained employed till a certain date. That’s drastic, but then, drastic situations require drastic responses. Have you completed your last assignment? That’s what qualifies you for the next. If the seasons change and it begins to rain, it will only benefit you if your seed is in the ground.

What brings your one day, one day to pass is a combination of the passing of time and an activity packed wait.
