One of the major parties in the country – APC is having its National Executive Committee meeting today. In this meeting, a number of really important decisions will be made.
These decisions will decide if the party will run its primaries. Will it be consensus, indirect or direct primaries? They are also deciding the dates, as the forms must be submitted before the 4th of June. They are also deciding what the cost of nominations forms will be – if it needs to change.
If you are praying for Nigeria, today is a very important day. If you are supporting a candidate, today is a very important day. If you are not involved or interested, today is still an important day.
“If you do not take an interest in the affairs of your government, then you are doomed to live under the rule of fools” – Plato
At the end of today… we will know clearly how the game will be played.
Would you like to get involved?
There are five broad categories of Nigerians when it comes to the possibility of Nigeria becoming a better nation.
1. Those who are hopeful and are praying that things turn around. Some are in Nigeria and some have relocated.
2. Those who have given up and are either out or looking out
3. Those who are interested but have stopped praying, they believe what is needed now is action
4. Those who are indifferent either because hope deferred has made their heart sick, or are trying to retain their sanity.
5. Those whose hopes are failing, and need others to rekindle their hope from time to time.
Can you find which group you belong to?
Whatever group you belong to, however, you need to take note, that your interest or lack of interest in politics or governance doesn’t make you a non-participant in it. Every citizen of every country is part of the political game, silence or ignorance only makes you play a disempowered role. If you are not the queen making the bold moves, then you must be the pawn taking one step at a time. Your indifference or lack of interest only makes you a pawn when you could have been more valuable.
“Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn’t mean that politics will not take an interest in you” – Pericles
There are a few things you can do to upgrade your value in the political space
1. Commit to learn
2. Join a political family/group
3. Take on an active role
I personally got active in the political space just 20 years ago. Upgraded my value 12 years ago, and have been playing a role in my little way since then. I am part of a political family, and we have our ideologies. The party is secondary to the family.
If you will like to learn and be a part of my process, you can drop a message. This year is going to be very different. There are roles for everyone who desires a better country to play.
