Have you ever been on an airplane? What of on a cruise liner? I just concluded a 7 day Caribbean cruise. Touched Florida, Jamaica, Cayman, Haiti and Mexico all in 7 days. The ship was called Independence of the Seas. It was exciting.
I want to however intimate you about a cruise you are already on. The Vessel is called earth. The earth is moving at the speed of 30km/second around the Sun. The Sun takes about 225 million years to orbit the milkyway and the milkyway itself is on a cruise!
Don’t think too hard about this, this is as far as man as discovered! God’s greatness cannot be fathomed because creation itself is a bold statement! Yet all things are yours through Christ Jesus!
So you and I are on a free cruise on planet earth. The ride is free, but we get to pay for a few of it’s pleasures. We cannot however afford to buy assets on this ship. Our real treasures can’t afford to be laid on this trip, we must ensure that we spend our existence on this 90-120year cruise on the things that will add value to our real life after the cruise.
All of life’s trappings are time-bound. The beauty of the environment, the splendor of riches and resources, the awesomeness of our temporary accommodations are all a flash in the pan compared to our life after.
Our eyes must not be set on what the Vessel holds, but on life after the vessel docks. All the experiences of the seas must plug into something deeper. Set your eyes on things above, look beyond this trip!
Christ makes no sense to the sojourner whose realities are bound by the perimeters of boarding and exit. Life is more than 120 years. True life was before time, and exists after time. It’s found in one, it’s been a mystery for years, but now God opens eyes and shows His saints.
The world must stay under the grips of decay until the seed planted becomes sons.
