I re-read an article 2 days ago, that really motivated me into action. As a result of this article, i have decided to make some concious effort to gradually upgrade my life. I will be using the 30 day trial method to validate a number of disciplines. This is very similar to the software purchase method, you are given the software (trial version) to try for 15-30 days after which you can make a buying decision. Rather than take a position on some grey areas that no one is confident about their being good or bad, being right or wrong, isn’t it just good to try some out? If in doubt, it’s a good way to try and perhaps be sure.
The 30 day trial is also a great way to develop yourself, it’s an easier decision to make than a lifetime decision, it’s long enough for a habit to form, makes it easier to start or continue and it helps you overcome inertia.
The first 30 days experiment I’ll be starting is going on a vegetarian diet for the next 30 days. According to my mentor in the 30 days trial programme, he really benefited a lot from this exercise as it increased his energy levels and awareness. Is this going to be true for me? Let’s find out.
Mark Twain is quoted as saying, “he that pulls a cat by the tail learns a lesson he can learn no other way”. I just completed my first day yesterday (It’s 5am already and I should be waking up in the next 1hr – woke up 2hrs ago, but must still take one more hour ;).
This is also an invitation to as many as want to try out this 30 day trial on any area of their lives to join me. You might lag by a few days, but the community energy is worth harnessing. Yours might be a 30 day trial to read an hour a day like I do, it could be to skip TV, it could be to exercise for 30 mins daily, to write in your journal everyday, meet someone new everyday e.t.c. You can add your comments here and keep log with me on a daily basis.
Day 1 Log
Nothing strange today, it felt like every normal day. I saw meat and fish once today and smiled, everybody ate a meal that didn’t require meat and it’s day 1, didn’t expect much.
