Many questions have been coming in lately about 180 degrees. What is it about, what is the vision, and what is the concept? While the clarity of all these questions can be assumable, it is important to make it clear once and for all.
The concept first. The concept of 180 degrees is a complete turnaround, it’s the idea of change or metamorphosis. The day this idea was born in my mind, I picked up my phone and called a good friend – ‘Gbenga Sesan, he caught it immediately and also shared his thoughts, making the idea of 180 degrees what I will talk about as we, rather than I.
The concept we had in mind is that the Nigeria of our dreams is one that can only be achieved when we make the necessary changes. When we as a nation and as individuals decide to make concious decisions that might be quite opposite to the positions we have taken in the past. It’s about a concious reorientation of our leaders, our corporate colleagues, the masses and the next generations. We agreed that it is not 360 degrees as we do not want to turn and face the same directions again.
The concept of 180 degrees we discovered as well, would need to be multifaceted to achieve the desired results that we had in mind. Being multifaced means we would need to use many means to acheive this purpose. The purpose and vision of 180 degrees is to be a consortium of means and units that are capable of delivering a 180 degrees turnaround in the delcine of our society. These vision will be acheived by using the mediums of Seminars and Public lectures, Personal Development trainings, 180 degrees subscriptions based magazine, a personal development website, a radio and TV programme, a development center, a habits facility and a media house. All these in the course of time.
Some of these we have begun already! We currently run some seminars within Nigerian Universities and in some cities, we have even gotten offers to run these outside the shores of Nigeria – these are highly subsidized public seminars that we are still making arrangements for corporate sponsorship for. We currently run some personal development training courses – The concept of this is that the individual can be responsible for his/her own development, to make this easy we make the pricing a small fraction of what we charge the companies (Our November courses will run, avail yourself the opportunity). We currently maintain personal development websites and are motivating the birth of many others. The magazine project is on, though a bit later than we planned – We already have people who have paid initial installments to subscribe, more are welcome. Ideas about the magazine cover template was developed the day the idea was born. All the other projects will be completed within the next one year – By God’s grace!
The Journey is a long one, but we have counted the cost. We are running this dream on the steam of motivation, good will and encouragement of our numerous supporters – You! That includes you. We are going to turn this nation around, me and you. We are going to change things, with our votes, with our positions, with our careers, with our influence.
The first lie we need to believe is that we are incapable of any noticeable change. If you buy that the battle was won without you starting, you were passed without challenge. Who says we don’t have a voice? Where is he that mutters impossible? I haven’t seen or heard them, but you find any of them, kindly let them know, that Napoleon said to them, “Impossibe is a word that exists only in the vocabulary of fools”.
I’m using this medium to gather support for this mighty task, in whatever capacity you deem fit – participations in the public lectures, publicity for the personal development sessions, marketing and publicity for the subscription based mags, articles, financial support, corporate sponsorship, whatever. We have borne and continue to bear the weight of these vision.
