Tomorrow I will be in OAU ife, I’ll be speaking at two events. The first one is at an Electronics and Electrical Engineering forum, and the second one is at 180 Degrees!
180 degrees is a concept that is gradually picking up in Nigeria. The Nigeria we desire and the Nigeria we live in require a complete turn around of thinking processes and responsibilities to achieve. Our students are being trained to become slaves to a system, rather than being armed with the proactive capability to determine their own futures. Hundreds of thousands are released from these higher institutions per year, unaware of what the future precisely holds. They come out, willing to take what is shoved at them, they roam around the city streets, under the scorching sun like midday prostitutes, looking for the highest bidder. Life for many, has been reduced to, who pays more now! How pathetic!
We need to turn it around! We need to change our ways, and embrace the future we desire in our daily routine. We have a chance, a big chance. Africa has a chance! 180degrees is about empowering the future crop of Nigerian Leaders to take a turnaround and lead. To set paces, to be role models. To identify their uniqenesses and not dance to the common beats.
We charge a token for the Seminars, one message we believe we must erradicate from our system is the belief in free things. Everything of value costs, and if it’s just a token, people must begin to learn early to pay for service.
Just last week, we gained the alignment of 3 Notable Professors to be a part of 180 degrees. Prof Pat Utomi (LBS, Lectures entrepreneurship amongst other things, Bank PHB Vice Chairman) Prof Banji Oyelaran-Oyeyinka (A professorial fellow at the United Nations University, Netherlands) and Prof Manny Aniebonam (CEO AfriHub, and Lectures IT and Busienss at Washington University).
We are coming to Ife now…and setting up plans to go to all higher institutions nationwide. If you have links in any school and want to co-organize, let us know.
