Today, I really want to welcome you into the second half of the year 2009. The match started January 1 this year and it was you vs 2009. It’s a great time to ask yourself what the scores are, and what your strategy for the next half should be. It’s a good time to do your life audit, and a good time to seek Gods face afresh for direction, for grace and for help! While this is something I’ll like to write about very well, I’m sorry that today I must write about something else that really bothers my heart – Nigeria!
I’m sure you read the title and wondered what was going on, I’ll like you to join me in this video I’m about to paint with words. Sorry, I could have done it on You-Tube, but our link in Nigeria is not strong enough to allow most people to watch it, it’s even going to be difficult for me to upload. So bear with me, and use your minds eye to follow me in this journey of our imagination!
Imagine with me if you can, that Pastor E.A. Adeboye indicates interest in becoming the president of Nigeria. What do you think will happen? Let me tell you what I think. First of all he’ll likely win, I do not attend the Redeem Christian Church of God, but I know many people from different churches and religions who will gladly and passionately vote for him. We’ll have the largest voters turn out in the history of Nigeria’s voting. I know many churches that will align, I know many people from diaspora that will fly in if voting was restricted to Nigerian soils. I know that many things will shift, peoples attitude to participating in Nationhood will dramatically change, Nigerians will know that something different was in the air. ย All our dreams and aspirations for a New Nigeria would all of a sudden seem possible to millions of Nigerians who believe in this man of God. ย All these if he indicates interest in becoming president, now imagine what is possible if/when he wins. In case you don’t know who Pastor Adeboye is, he’s the General Overseer of the Redeem Christian Church of God, and Newsweek ranked 49th most influential man in the world and 1st most influential person in Nigeria.
Let’s take our imagination forward a bit before I head for where I am going. Imagine that Pastor E.A. Adeboye actually emerged the president of Nigeria! Apart from the northern perspective that it will be Christianizing Nigeria – a crime we could have blamed most of our past leaders for as regards Islam but didn’t, there are a lot of great things that will happen in Nigeria. First, we’ll have a leader who earned the 49th most influential person in the world on the grounds of honesty as our leader. Being a very revered man, we’ll likely have Nigerian office holders being a lot more careful in looting the countries money and in being corrupt. Being a strict disciplinarian, he’ll definitely set the right standards with his conduct. Being a visonary who envisioned a church every 5 mins apart from each other and actually is making it happen, he would envision and execute, hospitals, libraries and manufacturing companies every 5 mins apart. Being a very humble person who has broken lots of records but has not boasted about them, Nigeria will shortly break new world records and will see it as natural. Nigerians all over the world, would find it easy at his word, to pray for the nation, and even donate money to make the country the most desirable country to live in, in the world! Can you imagine this? With 14,000 branches in the nation and counting, 360 in the UK and about the same number in America, missionaries around Asia and operations in about 110 countries, there is sufficient leadership to drive any organization.
Lets snap out of that imaginary dream world for a while and face the cold facts. It’s not very likely that he’ll indicate interest in Presidency! If that was all, I probably won’t be so sad as the fact that as long as I have followed Nigerian politics I have not seen him or any other influential honest personality in Nigeria throw their influence behind getting a proper leader for Nigeria. Before you crucify me with the argument that Christians or any religious body should not engage in politics, I’ll recommend that you don’t even go there! If we are the light of the world, we should show the way, not hide underneath a bushel under a bed. I listened to Martin Luther King Jr’s speech again recently – he was introduced as the moral leader of America. He spoke for about 30 mins, and you would have no doubt that he was a pastor. For him, getting the blacks their right was a matter of faith, of deep conviction of his perspectives about how God wanted man to live with man irrespective of colour or race. The founding fathers of America were men of faith, you can read their declaration of independence to feel their convictions. Abolition of Slave Trade, Equality of Black and White, and many other movements that have changed world views have been sponsored by lights to the world that decided to shine.
Before you go thinking this is about Pastor E.A. Adeboye, you are wrong. This is about you, and also about me. It’s about the people who can do the job of leading this country and have not stepped up to it. It’s about the people who are old enough to make a difference with thier votes and have not. It’s about the people who have bought the lie that our votes don’t count. It’s about all the people who could make a tremendous difference to this country and have not! It’s for the people who think that those who want to steal money as leaders should be better motivated than those who desire to turn the country the right side up!
I look forward to a 2011 where we have credible leaders joining forces together to position and elect credible leaders. I personally think that it’s sad that there are so many churches in Nigeria, so many mosques and muslims as well, and things are so terrible. Have you seen our roads? I know what it is to be stranded at 2am on one of them. Have you seen our hospitals? I have sat around and watched many who came in alive wheeled away as corpses. Have you seen what the villages look like just 10mins from town? I have been around and no matter how bad the cities are, they are heaven compared to many nearby villages. The state of our electricity is indicative of our true spiritual state, we are a nation in darkness, our agents of light are disengaged ย from shining their lights, we have sold our rights to a say in our country to just any charlatan willing to buy. We need to stop this current trend, we need to put our influence and powers behind credible people, and wether they win or not should not be a deterent.

Hmmmmm………………
Th journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. 2011 is almost at the corner. We can start to re-build Nigeria today. For us to see the change we desire, credible politicians must come out and people must be ready to ensure that such people are voted for and truly installed. Our votes must count and we mustn’t employ a siddon-look attitude in 2011. It’s time to rise up!!
The third and fourth paragraphs got me day-dreaming, but the following ones snapped me back into reality. It would be a blessing to Nigeria if Pastor Adeboye would decide to lead her. Greater blessing awaits if another true light of the world(as you stated) decides to stand up to the task. This piece stirred up something that I have never paid attention to prior to this moment. Thank you.
Good job Deolu. You are very correct.
I’m on my feet right now!
We would continue to push and push until the revival consumes
the nation.
Don’t wait till you want to become a governor to manifest.
Manifest now!
I feel u deolu. We need people of impecable laced with high integrity to kead us to d canan land. Keep impacting on ,igeria. U re appreciated
It is possible! Yes We Can!
This is right on time.As many as decide to shine their lights, don’t forget that WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.Thanks for this insightful piece, you are one in a million.
The greatest examples we have for overcoming obstacles are ones you and I are willing to initiate, starting today!!!
What are we believing? …….That our problems are too big for us to hit or too difficult for us to miss? Indeed we need to do an audit not just about the year but about the nation, our lives and our destiny. Then we need to “hit the gym” and start changing and realigning for the future we really deserve. Thank you Deolu!!!
This is truely an invitation to the slumbering nation our dear country nigeria.
This is quite timely. We need to hear this and hear it repeatedly until we not only believe it beyond all doubts but also start to act on it.
“WE ARE THE ONES WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR” – BO
I remember that in 1993 many christians were able to put religious sentiments aside to stay on the queue for Abiola, I am not very sure that our Northern brothers would do the same for Adeboye. I am beginning to imagine the radical change that will befall ‘sermons’ in the Mosques.
This is really a nice peace. We need to do more of these. The era of keeping silent and just hope a miracle will happen is over. If indeed we are the light of the world, ‘lighting’ up Nigeria shouldn’t be an impossible task for us as it ‘seems’. We just need to shine!!!
It will really be good if people, especially the “light bearers” will read in between the lines and know that its just not about Pastor E.A. Adeboye but about us. We could imagine all you have described in that article to happen because Pastor E.A. Adeboye dared to ‘shine’ in his own little, way God on his side. How great that light will be if all of us can just just give expression to our “light bearing” potential!
All that has read this article, please lets encourage ourselves and be MOTIVATED TO POSITIVE ACTIONS! we all need to SHINE the LIGHT and save our dear country. How long shall we be tagged a “Sleeping Giant”. Mind you when a sleeping giant never wakes up, it is as good as Dead!
Before we shift again from us to Nigeria, if Nigeria is a sleeping giant, its because the “light bearers” are not shinning! Nigeria is as sleeping a giant as much as we are not living our true potential as light bearers and allowing this darkness to persist. There are no two ways to eliminate darkness, just “light up the light”.
Deolu, I look up to a 2011, where we have many influential light bearers that will DECIDE to shine the light and change the course of history for our dear nation. I think our own part is to appeal to the potential in all of us by all avenues we can, one of which is sharing thots like this. Keep the light shining and keep sparking the light in others. Light shall prevail!
Tight!!! Great article, but I am also not very sure that our Northern brothers will vote for Adeboye oh!
With the happenings in Ogun State; there is no better time for this article than now.
Oath taking and other fetish things are the order of the day in our dear country. Those who are not visiting Babalawo’s are bent on making sure all the top posts in the country goes to their region regardless of qualifications. Sometimes u just wanna cry for Nigeria, for the beloved country but it is not a matter of crying – it is a matter of taking charge and forging a way forward. The present political parties are a bunch of nonentities with strange bed fellows sleeping together like whores. Isn’t it sad to see an idiotic AC senator decamp to PDP. Well that is the order of the day now. A lot of ANPP member have also decayed. Out whole political system has to be destroyed and rebuilt, have u ever heard a Republican Mayor decamping to the Democrats? NOPES. It shows our fundamental flaws. I know that one day very soon; we will have young Nigerians rise up and form a party based on IDEOLOGIES and not the collective selfish notion of defrauding our nation. PDP and the rest will be chased off and that is truly when we can have a NEW NIGERIA. With the ignoramus we have now, a NEW NIGERIA is a facade.
Chairman, eku lakaye, O GOD OF CREATION, DIRECT OUR NOBLE COURSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Deolu, You’ve been a source of inspiration. Anyway, whatever is concievable is achievable. if pastor Adeboye is willing, we are also willing. We need this change!!!!
This is a good one Deolu, We should forgo the “Sidon look approach” and take active roles in the affairs of Nigeria. We don’t have another country that we can call our own.
How I wish it’s possible daddy Adeboye indicate interest, how I wish God ask him to hence he won’t without God’s instruction, things will change against any discrimination.Be it religion or racial God’s choice will rule. However, before the end of this tenure let’s pray God to send David or daddy Adeboye like; to lead/serve Nigeria. More wisdom for you bro.’Deolu.
Great tots Bros
You remind me of my days back on campus as a president of one of the fellowships and was being castigated for maintaining the view that tested and trusted Christians workers (and/or honest member) be encouraged to participate in Student Unionism – as President or any other elective position. Imagine what impact that will have on our campuses/higher institutions of learning. I off cause saw some professed Christians then who did messed up, and there were also those who measured up. Being a Christian or Muslim does not automatically make you a saint, just as I say that being a Pastor does not make you fantastic husband and father – ask Eli. Iโll rather vote a leader who has conscience, than to fast and pray for God to change an imposed devil.
However, sincerely we need to stand up to this occasion in our land. The fact that buildings collapse all around us is not sufficient a reason for anyone to relocate to live under the tree or in the street. In spite of several motor accidents many still crave to buy cars – ‘Tokunbo’ or ‘tear robber’. Let us not lock-in the potentials because of the ‘lions’ in the streets. He/she who has a calling or passion for politics and his/she is tested and proven should be supported by all, based on quality and what such a fellow can deliver and not for ‘return on investment’.
Let nobody think we are shying away from the present monsters facing us in terms of bad leadership, corruption, etc but such are invited to see the future we crave and aspire to achieve. And the truth is that Yes we can. Nigeria Shall Be Great Again.
We need God fearing people at the helm of affair in Nigeria, when the righteous rule people rejoice.it’s by discarding fear of assasination and the believe that Nigerian hates the truth our light can shine. If God’s children have confidence in themselves and faith in God nothing stops them from joining the force making Nigeria become God’s own country. Let us rise up to the task as children of God to build our nation with HIM on our side.
It interesting and thought provoking, let keep pushing until we (sleeping giant)all wake uo
Hope is not lost yet, we have credible leaders within us and they need to be encouraged, We need to be fearless. It is written that even the kingdom of God suffereth violence and the violent taketh it by force. No be by talk we must act!
The so called Federal Executive Council have their own individual interest overriding the national interest and that is what is killing us. The nation is in a sorry state and i feel we are sitting on a time bomb & if WE Nigerians don’t take action now we may not live to tell the story. God will not come down o! Eeeeeeehhhhhhhhh!
We need selfless leaders!
You are right, as children of the Lord we are the light of the world. We need to begin to fulfill our kingdom responsibilities. We can’t afford to fold our arms and expect things to change in Nigeria. All hands must be on deck. I am a member of an organization called Congress World Breakthrough Network. We are a people commited to affecting our community and the world at large via kingdom principles. One of our principles is to ensure that we live a accurate life style that God demands from us. Living a life of accuracy in christ means taking up challenges, one of the challenges of Nigeria right now is leadership issue. We as kingdom people must begin to fulfill our leadership responsibility as the salt of the world. Babylon! must fall!!!!!!!!!!!
We look forward to leadership with results and not leaders entangled with blood oath. God save us!
A thought and question came to mind when you said: “Before you go thinking this is about Pastor E.A. Adeboye, you are wrong. This is about you, and also about me. Itโs about the people who can do the job of leading this country and have not stepped up to it.”
The thought: This may be you putting out the ‘feelers’ for what you’re about to do.
The question: Will you bell this cat ahead of 2011? If the answer to the question is yes, what do you want me to make happen?
one thing kept ringing in my mind as i read through. our value system is so weak that we do not know the people we should cast our votes for neither do we understand that our willingness to vote for credible leaders is the first step to changing the trend. we have credible leaders in this country but i do not know whether to say that they do not have passion for this country or they do not believe they can change the trend but i will say we all as a nation have a lot to do as regards 2011 if we are truly sicka nd tired of the weaknesses and flaws of our leaders.
True my brother/sister
If anyone on the blogg is willing to go, including chairman himself…not just for us nor for self but for the nation and the generations to come. Step forward and let individual decide on such. As Deolu stated in Lessons on MJ, start early. Starting even now is never too late. Abi?
Just be sure its your calling and persion, that is why i know Daddy GO – Pastor Adeboye won’t dump the pulpit for Aso-Rock. Who is called in the house?
Great post Deolu. The Lord will one day send Messiah to rescue leadership and governance in this country from babalawos, hoodlums and curtist in Jesus name.
I am speechless! Such a state Nigeria is in……..
I wonder where they got the notion that Christians should not be involved in politics.
A very nice piece…
I agree with you. I imagine a country with leaders like the likes of Pastor Adeboye, and you are right, Christians, agents of light need to rise up and dispel the darkness around us, we all like to quote Isiah 62……..the light and glory of God in our lives is for a purpose.
and I could not agree less with your phrase ‘The state of our electricity is indicative of our true spiritual state, we are a nation in darkness, our agents of light are disengaged from shining their lights………………’
God help us to KEEP ON praying for Nigeria, and do our won part to make this country the Nigeria of our dreams
Good.
It is about every sane Nigerian who wants to see the good of the Land. If my people that are called by My name can humble themselves and Pray (Pray the second stanza of the National Anthem daily amongst others)….. You know the rest.
God Bless Nigeria.
What if 2010 comes and Pst. Adeboye declares he needs to be the president. Don’t be surprised, i have seen Mrs. Iweala gunning for 2011 president.
father save us……when we start moving
I thoroughly agree with this…… This is one of the strongest things on my heart… The need to step up and step out.. Two thumbs up
progress always invovles risk;u cant steal second base and keep ur foot on first.
I subscribe 100%, we are been told a lie everyday that our votes dont count and a lot of us because of that dont get involved in politics. Until we bother to venture Nigeria may not experience any change. I have already started the process to contest a political office in 2011.
the price of greatness is the greatness of the price says Myles Munroe. tge truth about the Nigerian society is this: we uphold in high esteem what will make us loose and break our word and value. if our leaders will be sincere to tell us their personal experiences with party stakeholders we will see that in most cases these stakeholders are the ones that dictate the pace for them-the leaders. let our leaders be responsible and be bold enough to do what they feel wiould better the lots of Nigerians instead of following the nstructions of their party chieftains. we need leaders that can die for this country not leaders that want the country to die for them.
Deolu,
Thank u its a great write up here, I am guilty – just as most of us – the category of us Nigerians in the lowest level of the elite club (basic first degree graduates) are.
I am about your age and I have never voted before. I decided that since 1993/1995 after following up through TELL magazine the unfolding drama of June 12. I did a random sample of how many educated ppl in our generation paricipated in d last general election & learnt dat of the about 20 ppl i asked not a single one did. We have left the process of selecting our leaders in the hands of the “NFA’s” CAN WE START THE CAMPAIGN NOW ! and I think ppl like prof Pat Utomi & Pst Chris Okotie should groom politicians who will first transform a ward, then a Local Govt. I think we need to talk.
This truly is our responsibility. We all need to rise up to it. I’m taking my place in the society. God bless Nigeria.
Thank God for people like u in this nation sir, we appreciate u!
Correct!!! I am a believer of a Godly and goodly person to be the president or a prominat leader in the state of affairs of any nation. Like Oba said, being a christian does not amount to a good leader. I like the fact that you sited a leader known for honesty. Someone might as well ask, why we all did not rally behind Chris Okotie…Well i guess our individual answer, have something to say… infact let me leave the answer to us.
Nigeria will be saved, that i am very sure
@ Martins Emmanuel
Beyond prayers let’s also look around for the Davids and Adeboye’s, at least someone brought and introduced David to Saul/the palace and Baba Adeboye was brought into the RCCG through the instrument of a man. In prayers let’s watch. We’ll get there, and in my time too!
@ toyin
I salute your courage to go if called and passionate about it. Shot out all who are out to discourage you, threaten you, give you a 1000 and one reasons why you may never smell that political office, etc. Take all they say as a fuel for your resolve/determination not to give it up. However, remember to appreciate them when giving your inaugural speach…and deliver on your promises.
See you then.
the rise of president Obama has proved the fact that one man who believes in change and can present that change to the people will ultimately gain their support. we must note however that, whoever that one man is will not be accepted by everybody. Even Jesus Christ with His best intentions for everyone has not being accepted by all!!!
My resolve
We must choose to be that on man that believes in change and is ready to inspire other to do the same
@Deolu. I tender my condolence on the transition of your Mother. I pray that God will grant you the fortitude to bear the loss. painful to miss a loved one most especially a mother that I see her efforts revealed in your wisdom. Hope to see on that resurrection morning. Sun re o Mama Wa. Uncle Deolu put youself together and deliver on your promises as God strengthens you.
Nigeria, together we stand, divided we fall.
i doubt if Past. Adeboye will become the present. May be we should stop day dreaming and focus on more real things. He will be the best leader we just can NOT have in Naija. Friends, lets get back to wor for we have a long way to go.
@Deolu
Beloved accept my condolence too. We stand with you in such a time as this. May the good Lord grant you the strength needed for such a time as this.
Amen
Deolu, “oro di e tito fun ologbon”.
Brilliant write up! We need credible men and women like Nehemiah to rebuild our nation. I believe Nigeria will be a force to reckon with in the nearest future. Although, the state of the nation does not look like it @ d moment. Our nation needs just a leader that will turns it around. I could remember the days of Tunde Idiagbon/Buhari, how dare you think of corruption or indiscipline? Just a single person changed the mentality of Nigerians for a moment. I believe there is urgent need for a shift in our priorities in the upcoming generation. Nigeria will rise again.
Hi Deolu,
thanks for this inspirational piece. It is really motivating and shows me what our true possibilities in this nation are. I believe the time for change is here, the time to turn the page from failed policies, to charter a course for national prosperity, to build a nation which will be the envy of the entire world, my brothers and sisters like Barack Obama says, this is our moment, this is our time. Lets make it happen!!
I sincerely express my heartfelt condolences to you on the passing of your mother. I pray that may God Almighty grant you and your family the fortitude to bear with the loss, in Jesus Name Amen.
I’m motivated,I’ve always thought of this same subject of “Lights outshining darkness in our nation”,I’ve known all along that God’s not our problem,God’s people are – we need to start taking responsibilities now more than ever before.
Today is a new day. I’m ALL IN! C’MON, LET’S GET STARTED.
explosive! I beleive in ur words, but wen the time is right, u will be suprise aw much the heaven can open and answer our prayers. Proudly Nija.
You simply took my breath away! All Pastor Adeboye has to do,is just indicate interest and we
will be solidly behind him.Pastor Adeboye has proven himself to be trusted & moreover, he who must rule will be the servant first of all.He has done that wonderfully well. Now is the appointed time for the chilldre of light to be in charge. We are all fired up,there is no more time to waste,we are ready & so is Nigeria.May the Good LORD bless & preserve Pastor E.A.Adeboye and all of us all the days of our lives-Amen.
There is possibilty. There are honest people here who can pull through the rank.2011 will be great but let us al stand up and bak right people
Children of Light need to come out and chase away darkness from the corridors of power in this nation. Imagine all these blood oath taking/fetish ritual saga and demonstration of craziness (democracy), nudity and what have you all over. . . May God save us!
Adeboye is alreading leading. Where he has been called. Just like you, Deolu, have been leading in the place you are now. Martin Luther King didn’t become America’s reference point in moral leadership through the soap box:; it was through the only box he had unfettered access to. Let’s stop looking at Aso-Rock and the tenor of leadership we think can change the nation. Let’s simply look at satisfying the need Jesus died for and we would see in it our salvation and that of the people in Nigeria. That truly should be the quest: the people, not the polityical ‘sovereignty’ they are called. That was really Martin Luther’s quest. Justice for human beings, no matter their ethnic or national label. Enough of this fixation on ‘our Nigeria’
Deolu, don’t take lightly what you have just written. I have been “day dreaming” about this idea of Pastor E. A. Adeboye being president for quite some time. I know you tried to “snap” us out of that thought, but I want to challenge us all: Why not Adeboye? If after he’s attained to the level of being the most influential man in Nigeria (49th in the world according to Newsweek and only Nigerian on the list) and keeps winning with a landslide the Silverbird living legend awards:(http://www.vanguardngr.com/2009/06/17/adeboye-kanu-ojukwu-gani-soyinka-win-living-legend-poll/), wouldn’t it be the greatest service to his country Nigeria, if he’s granted the release by God to lead her? He was a professor, was called to lead RCCG, which has grown to become the biggest and fastest growing charismatic church organization in the world. What stops that biography from including “he became the president of his country, Nigeria and during his tenure eliminated corruption from the polity; enacted policy that lifted millions out of poverty; completed massive infrastructure development across Nigeria, which was long overdue and such as has never been seen before in the history of Nigeria; finally solved the hydra-headed, epileptic power supply problem that has plagued Nigeria since her independence. Now Nigeria can boast to generate as much power supply as South Africa and Egypt; as a result of the boost in her power supply, Nigeria is currently experiencing massive industrialization and unemployment is down below 10%”. If this is all he’s able to accomplish in his eight years, it’s good enough. Any why not? Don’t we deserve it? We are sick and tired of being sick and tired. If it is prayer, we pray more than any other nation on earth, so why are things still the same? There is a missing link and that missing link is the right leadership. A good leader is a good leader whether within the church or outside the church. Pastor Adeboye has proven himself to be such, so I reverberate “PASTOR ADEBOYE FOR PRESIDENT”
Nice thot, Chairman…. I have always said if the Christians can rise up and go beyond praying, we can make something happen in this country.. thanks for this wonderful insight
Every sincere Nigerian will love to see a honest, upright and godly person like Pastor Adeboye as President.
However, Baba will never stoop low to become a president. He occupy the position of a prophet of God to the nation. Spiritually, prophets are high in calling than Kings. I can’t imagine stooping from heaven’s bestowed position to one given by men’s election, bearing in mind that it will eventually expire!
That said, it is me and you that need to ask God what role he wants us to play in the future of Nigeria.
If you are called to be president, you can be rest assured I will cast my vote for you. I love the work you’re doing and I am proud of your effort to give Nigerians a new vision.
Any christian that do not hear clearly from God attempting to rule because of sympathy for the suffering masses will only end up a casualty. The evil cartel that hold Nigeria to ransom cannot be dethroned with mere human effort. Anyone with doubts should revisit Abiola’s story. If it were to be money or connection, he had sufficient of both. Whether we accept or not there is a spiritual factor!
So, while we search for the David that is feeding the sheep in the field so that he can be anointed the king for God’s people, let’s also pray that the principalities and powers that controls Aso Rock occupants like puppets will be dislodged. Except the Lord intervene, the labor will be in vain. Shalom
@Naijacash
Nice thoughts. you are a man of goodwill otherwise i will not be replying you. i am assuming that you read deolu’s article fully before sending your comment, because if you do, you will know that Pastor Adeboye for President is not about Daddy G.O, but about you and i standing idle, rather than taking responsibility for our nation. you rightly said that i must be “Led” to get involved in making a change, that sounds good and religiously correct, but it is not godly.
i want to ask you some questions
1. Did God lead Nehemiah to build the wall of Jerusalem or he simply heard the call through the distress news he received?
2 .Did God tell David to confront Goliath, or David couldn’t stand the insult of goliath and the paralytic fear of Israel (are we different)?
3 Did God tell Shadrach, Messach and Abednego to defy Nebuchadnezzar
4 Did God tell Daniel not to eat or he purposed in his mind or shouldn’t Daniel find a way of escape rather than being contaminated by the Babylonian system
5. Did God tell you to post this comment or you just followed your propensity to defend the priesthood so that “men of God” would not be derailed by the change agents
6. Did God tell Martin Luther the reformer to paste his thesis that banished him to house arrest for 2yrs for declaring “the just shall live by faith
7 Did God tell Wilberforce to abolish slave trade in England and consequently forced the world to do same
8. I would like to know the school that your Pastors Children attends or attended whether its in this nation or abroad, whether its a public or private, whether he is ‘led’ by God or by the deplorable situation or whether he is led to use a generator at home and at the church or does he simply analyze the situation and use his brain?
I look forward to seeing you someday not as a change agent but a fellow brother in the lord with the same concern for priesthood but a greater concern for kingship after all we are kings and priest and we are not the light of the church but the light of the world. thank you so much
Remember, as Deolu said and I quote “what we fail to solve collectively we will pay for individually”
O ga o! I Know we’ll get there someday.
This is really serious, thank u somuch sir for putting me on the thought lane.
what about “deolu akinyemi for president”.eku ise
I must commend you on this eye opener article, this indeed is a call to challenge every Nigerian home and away who have kept their abilities and influence so low till now to brazen up and start doing something in order to make our nation NIGERIA a desirable place to live in.Our problem is strongly rooted in the soil of bad leadership, nurtured by insidious mismanagement.
If we can get it right in this phase we can get it right in all,so let us rise up and make the light in us shine so much that it will be sufficient to illuminate our country so that we can be the mountain of the Lord. Our actions today will determine the result we will get tomorrow(2011).
God bless Nigeria,God bless you all.
Deolu, I agree with u. But i do not think the likes of Pastor Adeboye should contest for presedency or political offices. Why ? Taking a cue fron the Bible, The Office of the Kings (Political Leaders) is the different from the office of the Prophets (Spiritual Leaders). The Truth of the matter is that the Prophets should have the greatest influence on the political and economic system of the a nation because they are known to be mouth piece of God ( The Owner of all Powers). In the Bible, the Prophets approves the Kings before they get into office. The prophet downloads polictical and economic instructions from heaven for the Kings to execute. I believe the responsibility of the prophets is to ensure people who fear God become Kings not them contesting for the offices of the Kings. In 2011, I hope to see the likes of Pastor Adeboye raise for us God fearing Political leaders. I hope to see them use their influence to direct us to vote for the right people. I hope to see them lead us to bring the existing corrupt goverment of our to its Knees.
God will not come down the second time to execute the much needed change in NIGERIA, we all need to look inward and let the best of us out. I will fully support Pst. Adeboye if he indicates interests, But it will be wise to consider if he has the political experience and wherewithal to rule such a gigantic conutry like NIGERIA.
RCCG cannot be compared to NIGERIA in anyway, the current problem with presidency shows a weak leadership to cannot even make the center hold talk of the larger populace. We need to look inward and aallow the intellectuals, youth, brains, educated and well informed personalities rule this Country.
Shalom
‘The state of our electricity is indicative of our true spiritual state, we are a nation in darkness, our agents of light are disengaged from shining their lights, we have sold our rights to a say in our country to just any charlatan willing to buy.’
This revelation is not from man, this is the word of the Lord as spoken from the mouth of Deolu Akinyemi. Oh what shall we do to save our nation?
….Thought provoking,
I know a new nation Nigeria is emerging. We need to do something and do it fast, heroes of hell are also planning. I believe God will help us make decisions, take responsibility. God will give our dear nation Nigeria a leader after His own heart, a man or woman that fear the Lord. God will give us someone that knows the truth, disciplined, godly, that have good character and leadership edge. We really need the Likes of Pastor E. A. Adeboye, someone of a distinct personality, tested overtime, position and tested with Money and Fame. A man that God had and He’s still working on. It will be easy to throw weight on someone that has credibility, than to approve of someone that will later deviate, or compromise his standards due to pressure. Actually many well meaning Nigerian have given up on the electoral system and generally the politics of this country but a good person with outstanding record can stir their interest again.
The Electoral System need new face, re-branding and maybe new and trusted hands that will deliver the leadership of this nation into the hands of the right people with compromise, fear or favour. We all need to rise up to this clarion call to nation building and stop sitting back to watch the way things are going with the mind set of not doing anything about it. I personally still believe that there is still someone or some people who can be trusted in helm of affairs in this Nation Nigeria. We just trust that God will bring them out, give them courage to face reality and take responsibility so that the new Nigeria will emerge.
Deolu! Deolu!! Deolu!!!. I am calling three to acknowledge that this article is really a thought provoking one. We are talking about just a man here that God has so much blessed, and has also allowed himself to be blessed.Reposing this so much confidence in him to turn things around in Nigeria.Yes this is rightly true.Personal I believe in the grace of God upon Papa Adeboye. But we all need to take acue from his life.If all of us can and will take a cue from his life. How good it would have been for us in this nation. Can what we said of Baba Adeboye be said of us?Can we really find such men like him? Yes we can.To turn things around for this country,we need such men like Baba Adeboye.Yet each of us can take a cue from this Great Man of our time.I pray God will grant us such men like this. On our part we need to rise up to this.God bless Nigeria.
the wrong notions about who can and who cannot venture into politics is one of the reasons i feel that has made Nigeria to be where she is today. some chistians and muslims believe that as a “devoted believer” and one who is” heaven bound”, you shouldnt get your hands dirty by going into politicsthereby leaving people who do not understand anything about leadership and governanace to mess things up which everyone has to suffer.
that notion has to be corrected because the people have suffered enough from past govenment. the holy books says that the government shall be upon our shoulders. but how will that happen if we all retreat? this is calling on well meaning Nigerians to come and contribute their own quota to the development of our country because if we dont, who will?
RUBBISH RUBBISH RUBBISH. MAN OF GOD IN POLITICS, NONSENSE. MAN OF GOD OR THE REEDEEMED CHURCH ACQUIREING A PRIVATE JET FOR 4MILLION NAIRA, NONSENSE. YES HE (PASTOR ADEBOYE) IS A HUMBLE MAN BUT I AM CERTAINLY NOT MOVED BY FAME, AWARDS OR SENTIMENTS OF BEING 49TH MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSON. REDEEMED UNIVERSITY CHARGING 300,000 NAIRA FOR A YEAR, RUBBISH. PEOPLE TOLD THAT IF THEY DONT PAY THEIR TITHES, THEY WOUNT GO 2 HEAVEN, LAUGHABLE. I JUST LAUGH AT OUR SO CALLED CHRISTIANITY AND BEING RELIGIOUS SYCHOPHANTS. I KNOW MANY PEOPLE WOULD REIGN DOWN CURSES ON THIS BLOG AGAINST ME, TELLING ME NOT 2 TOUCH GOD’S ANOITED AND BLA BLA BLA, BUT I THINK PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW GOD’S WORD FOR THEMSELVES AND STOP CHATTING BALLZ AS THE MAJORITY SEEMS 2 B DOING. LETS STOP FOLLOWING THE STATUS QUO AND QUESTION SOME OF THE THINGS WE BELIEVE. STOP IDOLISING MAN AND PLACING HIM ON A PEDASTAL. JESUS IS LORD FOREVER. AMEN
Corruption has eaten deep in most Nigerians.Believe me its everywhere;primary, secondary, and tetiary institutions, families & religious bodies are not left out.People with good intention are most times denied the opportunity. It could really be discouraging, but with God on our side victory is certain.Bless you.
@ Cee… I know how you feel, been there, done that, and made the t-shirts, but that approach doesn’t change anything. Some of your points may sound more reasonable if you put a little more flesh of fact around them.
By the way, any man can contest for position forget if he’s of God or not. Any church can by anything they want, there are church leaders that don’t have bicycles, I’m sure they’ll feel the way you do about cars, how much more Jeeps, come to talk of jets. Like I said, any institution can do what they desire. My key question is what can you and I do to salvage our country?
I discovered Deolu’s blog by accident and was begining to think I was going to recommend it as one of the most serious places to visit to experience an laternative Nigeria and the hope of a better tomorrow for our people ( and I still might do that). However, I seriously doubt that you all understand the essence of the type of men to truly pull Nigeria out of the gutter and clean her up. It clearly is not Pastor Adeboye – who although I admire and respect remains in the mould of 90% of Nigerian clergy ( Christian and Muslim and ‘others’). Their individual and collective condonation of the charlatans who have infested Nigeria since the 1960s , their quite acquiescence to the perpetration of evil in high and low places, their refusal to frankly speak truth to power, to admonish their flock, to channel our spirituallity beyond religiousity. Sorry i pass on GO for President 2011 or anytime
@Baldieguy,
I actually do not think GO for President in any year would be a good idea as much as all the GO’s lending their voices behind credible leaders and not merely endorsing who comes! Here is a quote of my thoughts that you might have missed.
“Itโs not very likely that heโll indicate interest in Presidency! If that was all, I probably wonโt be so sad as the fact that as long as I have followed Nigerian politics I have not seen him or any other influential honest personality in Nigeria throw their influence behind getting a proper leader for Nigeria.”
“I look forward to a 2011 where we have credible leaders joining forces together to position and elect credible leaders. I personally think that itโs sad that there are so many churches in Nigeria, so many mosques and muslims as well, and things are so terrible. The state of our electricity is indicative of our true spiritual state, we are a nation in darkness, our agents of light are disengaged from shining their lights, we have sold our rights to a say in our country to just any charlatan willing to buy. We need to stop this current trend, we need to put our influence and powers behind credible people, and wether they win or not should not be a deterent.”
Their silence speaks volumes to us as endorsements of our current positions. By Negligence they have joined myriads of irresponsible Nigerians, myself inclusive, in murdering all who die in our not so sophisticated hospitals and not so worthy roads. Don’t get me wrong, I’m just masking the true fire of my feelings for the benefit of some who cannot swallow hot food.
@ Cee
The best way to combat darkness is to hold up your light. Whatever you feel about what others do, buy or own, even be does not justify your being who or what you CHOOSE to be, it’s all about you. Life is about Choice.
Finally let he who is at the basement not condemn the man on the roof top for waving or shooting till he gets to the same pedestal. Never say Never
Just an advice.
@cee,Baldieguy, the point isnt necessarily that Daddy G.O contest and win an election, what chairman is saying is that clergy men both christians and muslims should make their voices to be heard in matters that concern our dear country.2011 is just around the corner and we do not want the same set of corrupt people to come and worsen things up again. the time for our spiritual leaders to begin to talk about solutions on how to tackle problem with governance in our country is now.
lets put our fears aside and work towards our faith. the NEW NIGERIA IS ALL WE WANT AND THAT WE ARE WORKING TOWARDS.
I commend u on dis wonderful piece. It is high time we rise up to the challenge. Adeolu, u r great. God Bless u.
If the true child of God can lead this nation i think this nation will blossom more tha this.Brethren let us continue praying for our dear nation and It shall be well with us
Friend,i solidly agree wt u.As a matter of fact,i believe the bane of this country is not our political leaders bt the religious;cos if only we’l take over as expected, things will naturally change.imagine E.A Adeboye,W.F Kumuyi,Tunde Bakare etc casting their weight behind a righteous man.do u think the man wl loose, even if the election is rigged? And,if he gets there,wl he forgets his source?not until wen the righteous in this country rise and our religious leaders take over,Nigeria wl continue to suffer in the hand of evil men, parading as politicians.ds guys are simply cultist in power.it’s time to act, enough of just praying
The men and women who will change the destiny of Nigeria, who will give it a new name, are persons with strong character strength, solid mental fiber ( the wisdom of God)which alone can create the platform for the influence we all desire.
hi guy u are doing a greate job, keep up, the joy of the Lord shall be your strenght in Jesus name, Moreover i want to assured you that there is ability in disability, but honestly is the best policy, this is not a childs play at all it is only God who can intervain in rasen the standard of Nigere. And i believe that with God all things are posible, when King Saul disobeyed God He suffered for the Consiquence and God raised a Substitute which was David, It is where we place God in NIgeria that is where God will places us in heaven, we have sin against God and we need God divine intervention in our country let all Nigeria join hand together and pray for our country before 2011 God bless Nigeria .
praise the lord man of God pastor E.A.Adeboye, i have seen you performing great miracles through the influence of holy spirit.kindly extend the same spirit to my prayers.kindly pray that James mulewa to approve my letter for promotion and trip to swazi land and south africa.I was due for promotion in 2002 but somebody took my promotion through magic powers. kindly pray that my promotion to be back dated in 2002.Revoke the witch craft curses, generation curses up to the forth generation, struggling curses, sickness curses, debts. curses,,poverty curses, spiritual curses, adamic curses, diversion curses and stress curses.kindly pray that my faithful God to heal me diabetes, high blood pressure and spinal pains and pains of the entire body.I have my son in England by the name Sammy Gitonga he lastly communicated with me in 1997.kindly pray that he starts communicating with me and assisting me financially and communicating with me as from today in Jesus name.Kindly revoke witch craft curses and parental curses as from today in Jesus name.
,
Deolu, weldone.
I know so many peopleย don’tย believe in the discussion here. But one thing Iย amย sure of is that God will bring surprises in 2011 that all we know that he is King of Kings. Heย enthronesย andย dethrones. He will look into Nigeria.
IT cnnot happen.. thats a loss of identity.. u know
good………………………, but we have to be more proactive than talking about it. who do we want to rule us ? why do we need this person now ? if we can see the person, we need to let him know why we want him to be our next president . the entire youth of this great nation need to enlighten about it. its the youth thing now, let forget about those old and worn out leaders who fail themselves and family. we must take back what belong to us and flush out these dangerous distroying our land.
tTHIS THE TIME, IT'S NOW OR NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!. God bless NIGERIA….
You’re a great writer Deolu and a great researcher. I’m working on an article about this great man of God right now, hence I stumbled across your blog. Some good blogging you got here kid. Keep up the good work. Blessings, Princess Ayo
Many children of God need to prayerfully and with humility make sure that they are well connected to the airwaves of heaven to be able to discern God's leading before joining politics. Politics has turned many enviable Pastors into many issues that hence make them ineffective. Daddy E.A should simply continue doing what he is doing and be an advisor to presidents because the post he holds currently is not even closer to being a mere national president. He is a Daddy to many in the world that he cannot be struggling with other humans for presidency. He is already more than a president. Praise be to God.
From: Godfrey Mashiya – Nairobi Kenya.
I came across this article barely a year after it was written neverthe less i am compelled to make a remark. Firstly, the nation of Nigeria is a comparatively young democracy, despite the fact that it gained independence from british rule nearly 50 years ago. Without soundding excessively patriotic, we have made comparative progress over the years. The best being the return to civilian administration nearly a decade ago, things have improved. However, the challenge has always been with having the right people in the right areas of life. It is sad to recall as one rightly said, a people always recieve the kind of leaders the deserve. The requirement for national leadership and spiritual leadership are very contrasting. The king and the prophet, and the priest have very different areas of assignment and sucess as priest does not assure success as a king. let the man of God continue in his area of calling. Have we not began to see progress in leadership, with the emergence of the likes of Fashola, Elrufai, Ribadu and AKunyili – distinguished administrators, whose excellence in their little assignments show credence to the quality of their leadership. As soon as we will have the right people in the right areas doing their assignments then we will see the emergence a truly great nation.
This write-up is funny that Pastor Adeboye should run for President,i can bet everything in this world he will loose even in osun state. His calling is to preach the gospel,he dares not try politics you will witness for first time the unsual campaign of evil against him.Why didn’t late Gani Fawehinmi,d man of d people, love by d press and contested for d presidential election,do you vote for him?Even christians will not vote for Pastor Adeboye, they will remind him what he forgot, why didn’t you vote for Pastor Chris?he openly told Nigerians that God ask him to run. Please live Pastor Adeboye out of politics.
God bless you Adeolu for the wonderful piece.Whatever angle you look at it, our problem as a nation is serious value misplacement.Money, religion, tribal, even location etc are factors being emphasised at the expense of the real thing, who has what to deliver what. All efforts to put us right as a people will make little or no meaning without imbibed Value and Attitudinal Re-orientation ranging from our individual coners spaning to the hieghest office you can imagine in Nigeria. However, as events keep unfolding, we shall definately get there by His grace.
Continue to push it in your own wonderful way. We all have a must specific role to play. thank you.
