No Wars No Victories

I have been seeing series of complaints on this site from people informing me that once a post gets more than 10 comments some of them begin to fade into the edges. I wondered exactly what they were talking about, until someone showed me how my site loads on his system and how so many comments become unreadable. I felt bad, so people were actually going through this type of hassles to read?
It became an assignment for me to get this problem solved. I was going to do all in my power to make browsing through this site easy and enjoyable. I was happy though, that at least, I had a challenge in my hand; those that don’t have wars, have no victories. I’m glad to tell you that it’s done… I checked it again today and everybody should be able to see all the comments now, even when they get to 1000 :). I also think it’s a good idea to use this opportunity to solicit for ideas on what we can do to make your experience on this site even better.

Here is your opportunity to provide us with ideas on how we can make this site serve you better. When I say we, I mean all of us. There are a few things that won’t change being critical ingredients of our brand, like the colors and my Afro :), but ideas are welcome on all other areas you believe will make it more homely and interactive.

I’ll suggest that your ideas can be as crazy as possible, nothing is impossible, believe me :).

Haven said that, be happy when you have challenges, wars, struggles, problems and confusions, it’s in the middle of these that we have victories. There is not winner without a challenge, no conqueror without a conquest. No Victories without wars. When you overcome it means you moved over something that came.

When I look back at the best years of my life till date, they were those times when I overcame. Some of these thoughts show how some of these leaders and thinkers view adversity.

“In every difficult situation is potential value. Believe this, then begin looking for it.” - Norman Vincent Peale

The reason we don’t see the value in those difficult situations is because we are not consciously looking for them. If you look at most fruits, the harder the back, the softer the inside :) In fact if you look at coconut that has a really hard back, there is mostly water inside :)

“You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.” -Walt Disney

Coming from a man who got fired up from getting fired. He was told he lacked artistic talent. Yeah right! Mickey mouse proved all that wrong a long time ago. I remember how bad I felt when I didn’t do as well as any of my friends in my JSS 3 exams. It was so painful then. The thought of it however made me ensure that I never strayed out of top position in my SSS class. If it hadn’t looked bad then, I probably wouldn’t have buckled up. And finally in the words of Richard Back -”Every problem has a gift for you in its hands.” Take a closer look at your problems, and find ways to convert your smack in the but to a pat on the back :)

Your ideas…. Please

    Chairman,

Looking back i realise that my greatest achievement have been during situation when i felt like i was at the brink of disaster. Only to realise later that i was at the brink of a breakthrough. one thing that delivers greatness to you is you ability to hold on in tring times.

No wonder LEIGH HUNT SAID ‘PATIENCE AND GENTLENESS IS POWER”

LET ME CONCLUDE BY ADDING THAT WE WILL ULTIMATELY SUCCEED IF WE FAINT NOT.

  2. Tope Akinyemi responds:

Hmmm…. abi o, no pain, no gain. In the few years i’ve been around so far, i’ve had my fair share of challenges but they have made me strong, they have shaped my perspectives about challenges. Challenges are vital to our continual rise and rise in life.

We fall down, we get up; a saint is a sinner who fell down and got up.

Welldone Dee, keep up the good work!

  3. Temitayo responds:

Well done Deolu! I’m passionate about people who desire to make a difference.
For now, I’ll give my few thoughts.
Firslty, I’m thinking about a situation where this site can have a section that regroups various professionals. I mean where people can have a feeling of belonging to a group of individuals with like minds and passion. ie; like the medical profession, translators, lawyers etc. i see it as a forum where ideas can be shared and even young and aspiring professionals can be nutured.
Also, we can have daily quotes, daily vocabulary etc.
    i’ll be back…

  4. Gboyega responds:

I recently wrote an article (unpublished though), which I titled “From victory to victory……”. In the article, I concluded that the prayer- may you go from victory to victory- to which any congregation would shout a resounding amen, can as well be rendered as “may you go from battle to battle…… from struggle to struggle”. For victory does not exist in isolation. You cannot talk about victory, except you have fought a battle; you cannot be victorious except you have gone through a struggle….

Pastor D, I agree with you on this without any reservation. Indeed, No Wars, No Victories!

  5. ogochukwu responds:

this reminds of the fact that diamonds dont become what they are overnight, the too, as some kind of carbon material, have to undergo a whole lot of pressure and i guess its only the properly pressured carbon that makes it as a diamond!

very real and very true article

am not going to get tired of saying welldone!

as for things to do to this site, i really would appreciate it if there can be differnt groups maybe based on age or profession or something

and also maybe a “baby blog” where people that check this site can meet to talk….u never know.

  6. Felix responds:

  7. Kamal responds:

I pray for adversity though bitter to gulp when you are face to face with it, but it gives birth to noble feats.

  8. Felix responds:

ooppsss! the previous comment was for the article on Bill Gates and beyounce, sorry chairman and members of the board my mistake.

  9. Kamal responds:

@All: I need anyone to tell me of anyone who has been successful without those bitter pills called Adversity.

  10. Kamal responds:

@ Felix: I was actually wondering where you saw beyonce in this piece, hope all is well.

  11. Deoluakinyemi » Daily Motivation and Development for People and Organizations - ASE » Blog Archive » Reward and Recognition 2 responds:

[...] Just last week, I wrote about Reward and Recognition and wrote extensively about an experiment I intended using to reward loyal readers on this site. The details of this is available here. In summary however, I asked the first 10 people to signify their interest in participating in this experiment to deposit N50,000 in my account. I informed them that they would be required to mail articles from this site, using the email this post link on each of the posts to an average of 100 people per month (about 3+ per day), while they do this, I promised to work hard to return N220,000 each to the 10 participants within the next 90 days. In the course of the week, two deadlines were set to have the 10 participants pay in. Interestingly, 9 participants paid in, opening up one slot still to all others. Instead of setting another deadline though, I have decided to make this one slot open to as many of all the others that indicated their interest in the experiment before today-31st March, 2007. How will this work? Read on. [...]

  12. solomon responds:

hi d i say kudos to you u doing great man, though my first time on the site i am very happy to see these motivational stuffs, but i love if there can also be a forum for discussions stay blessed.

  13. Yinka Ogundana responds:

A young man once went to a blacksmith at work. The blacksmith was working a small piece of gold (though abit dull at the time). After a while and out of curiosity the young man asked, ‘how do u know when to stop refining the gold’ then the blacksmith answered, ‘until i can see my reflection in it!’

The truth be told i have seen who i trully am under pressure and in ‘pain’ and it goes on to show my true self - no pretences! Looking back at such times, i can boldly beat my chest, proudly wearing my scars and saying …i did it!

I have been a silent reader and i just decided to just BURST THE BUBBLE!

Pastor D, am sure u still remember me! actually shld have gotten across much more earlier.
You’re doin a really great job!

My proposal ……can a system be developd where issues of interest are indicated and then discussed

  14. femol responds:

This is refreshing! My battery just got recharged….
I’m presently going through some heavy challenges- luckily, this post has improved my perspective. I shall patiently pull through, looking for the potential. Thanks all.
