One of Those Days!

Don't worryYesterday was one of those days! I’ve not had many of such days in my life, when staying tops and smiling was by concious effort. When its as if it’s one ‘funny’ news after the other. It’s so interesting that I wrote this title yesterday but was not able to write the article in it. Here I am today, trying to remember exactly what went wrong yesterday. The only thing I can remember was that seeing my site the way it was yesterday was like the last straw after a string of events.

I guess there are those days, when worry tries it’s best to steal great moments from us. When it’s as if “whats all this stress about?”. This reminds me of a story I came across today.

A lecturer stood in front of his students and asked them, “Can anybody tell me the weight of this glass cup?”. They all responded with something within the range 100g…125g and 150g. The lecturer then went ahead to explain to them, that he’ll never be sure except he weighed it, but he then asked them what they think will happen if he holds the glass cup up like he did for 1hr. One of the students responded “your hands will grow very tired and numb!”. “Good” the lecturer retorted, “what if I hold it up like this for 2 days”. The whole class went silent! After a while, someone spoke from the back, “Your hands will literally be paralyzed”. Well the lecturer went ahead to explain to them, that all this while, the weight of the cup will remain the same and not change, but the effect will. He then asked the class, what they thought would be the right thing to do? The students chorused, “drop the glass”.

Well, what seemed like an easy option to the kids isn’t for many of us. Our worries are like that glass cup. Their weights are not known, at least we are unsure of them. They are small and insignificant in effect until we dwell on them for uneccesarily long. After a while they tire us, after a while they paralyze us and our initiative. There are no two ways to handle them, “drop the glass”. What we spend time mediating upon magnifies. “Drop the glass”

So you don’t have a job - So what? You are in dept? So what? These are all legitimate reasons to be bothered, but if you dwell in them for long you will not see the things you should be greatful about. If you dwell too long on them you’ll end up doing yourself more harm than good. The way out of a dominating thought is to subject it to a higher thought. To cancel your thinking, speak! To nullify your words, act! Worry is like a rocking chair, it will keep you moving but get you nowhere. It’s like a darkroom, the only things you develop there are negatives. Don’t pay in advance for problems you may never own. Relax and rejoice. Happiness need not be as a result of happenings. When you concioulsy rejoice when there is no reason to, real joy is on the way.

I don’t know who needs this today, in case you don’t, let someone you have a feeling does, have access to it. Today I feel great! You know who owns the glory! I’m still in Abuja, yes 8th floor sheraton. I’m preparing for the Customer Service Training tomorrow. Drop the glass!

Indeed, Worry is a rocking chair that keeps you moving but get you nowhere and at the end of it all, you won’t have cause to thank God.You will keep running after shadows and “near success syndrome” will be inevitable.

    Hey, great one there!

It’s just true that worries just wear us out and why worry when you can cast all your cares on God.

I have long dealt with anxieties, worries and fears, tests are essential modules in the school of life, so instead of bogging my head, I take counsel in the word of the greatest man that ever lived.

” No man, by worry can add a cubit to his stature”
drop the glass and start living!
